Ever figure out an improvement to the blower end of the lift rod?  Mine also keeps breaking the pin and dropping everything.   Got my single stage for $75. and the guy threw in a plow (beat up, but on season 3 of use :) ), and a set of weights.  Auger is beat like yours... Gotta straighten it and install rubber that's been sitting in the garage for over a year!

Yes. The Flag end of the rod was in the wrong hole and I used a 3/16" cotter pin and a 5/8" washer and all is good now. Hundreds of lift cycles over the last few weeks with the relentless snow and all is well. The rubber tire sidewall material I used for the wipes has also held up. Doesn't throw it as far as some of the pictures that I have seen here but still chucks it far enough. Still haven't motorized my chute though. Snow won't let up.

Best paddle material is available at your local small engine repair shop. Just ask them to save you a worn set of paddles from a single stage Toro walk behind sno-thro. They need to be changed out every few years as they provide for the forward motion and wear out on pavement/frozen ground, they lose half there throwing distance.

You can cut several sets for a single stage and one set for a two stage impeller from a pair. I set them up with max 1/8" contact at the closest point to wear in. Still have the extra throwing distance after four years use on a single. The two stage I overhauled this past summer also has used paddle fabric added to the second stage.

I got a lot of seat time this winter. Thanks to all that helped me sort the snow thrower, the lift rod connection, the foot pedal conversion and the cab install. Only got a few videos. Here is one of the last snow falls. Only a few inches but the thrower cleared it great.
