Rusty Tinsnips 477 #4 Posted December 18, 2020 Just wanted to know the model number for parts and the correct blades and OEM maintenance procedures.

johnnymag3 2,517 #6 Posted December 18, 2020 The grease zerk is the same on all of those 42" decks. Clean out the hole, check the threads, and insert zerk. Seems pretty solid. Most of all the parts you need are readily available John 1
Rusty Tinsnips 477 #7 Posted December 18, 2020 Thank you. This came with a 1972 Raider 14. I just found a manual for a 72 deck and it looks similar.

That deck is CLEAN for a 72! I am restoring a 48 inch deck this winter, just rebuilt the spindles, new paint, bushings etc.. Feel free to ask any questions. my center grase zerk was broke too... It hits my lift carriage..i have to either p[properly adjust the deck, or if theres too much slop, ill put a set screw in the spindle and pop the grease zerk in a couple times a summer to grease it. (common problem with that center grease zerk... You can also convert to completeness sealed bearings and eliminate greasing the spindles all together but i prefer to pack them full of grease. I cleaned it up per advise from pete-lena. Looks to be in very good condition. Will a 90 degree zerk work without breaking off?

A 90 degree will stick up nearly as high as straight one and might hit even more. My zerks are real close, but I have never broken one. If you have excessive wear in the hitch that may be the problem.
Lee1977 6,648 #11 Posted December 18, 2020 (edited) That looks to be a later model deck...I think its a 1990 or later Deck. Edited December 18, 2020 by Lee1977

I agree, the extra black welded support plate under the rear tires bar is a dead giveaway, and the decal is not 1970 ish era. There is also a rod welded to the front of the deck, it follows the contour.Another later addition My .02 cents....with 20-20 vision
Rusty Tinsnips 477 #13 Posted December 19, 2020 Well, now I have downloaded a file for a 1995 deck with some good color pictures and it looks exactly like that. It says that it is for the 300, 400 and 500 series machines. Will it work on my 1972 Raider?

Have looked at all the 90's manuals, I'm 90 percent sure ( looking at VinylGuy's decals for decks ) that this is a 1990. Thanks for everyone's help. 1
