nylyon-(Admin) 7,269 #2 Posted December 17, 2020 I usually use the plow on a 414-8, but have both a 2-stage and single stage blower. I decided to put the single stage on the 310-8, never had to use low range before today :). I think that a 416 with a 2-stage would have been better equipped for this. 1
ebinmaine 67,292 #3 Posted December 17, 2020 Even up until 4:00 this morning we were forecast for 6" on my mountain side. Obviously this storm blew up in our faces. We are now right on the borderline between 12 to 18 and 18 to 24 and it's not supposed to stop snowing for 3 or 4 hours more so we'll see what happens.... I was just checking the National Weather Service and it looks like there's a large swath in Southwest central New Hampshire that is going to get 36 plus!! 1
JoeM 7,871 #4 Posted December 17, 2020 Most I have seen in one storm was 36”, 41 is crazy! we got a solid 8. Of course I didn’t have the plow on, but was able to get by with the FEL, works okay but the plow is much more efficient.
Ed Kennell 38,026 #5 Posted December 17, 2020 (edited) We had about 8" on the ground when it turned to sleet about 7PM last night. Then changed back to snow and dumped about 4 more inches. I started plowing at 5AM and just finished at 11:30. Woohoo ...over 6 hours of seat time on the 520H. Five paved driveways, 400' of stone road and 1/4 mile of trails. 22F this morning, but a toasty 60F in the cab. The 520 didn't miss a beat, but the Onan did grunt a little when pushing through 12" deep with a 54" wide blade. Trail to the woods opened for the neighborhood walkers. My neighbors Troy w/ dual stage did a nice job, but slow. Edited December 17, 2020 by Ed Kennell 6

We've seen 18 many times. 2 or 3 seasons ago we had a storm that was something absurd like 26, then more in the next few days. All told it 39 inches in maybe 4 or 5 days? Thing is around here it rarely snows more than an inch an hour. We do see occasional blizzard conditions of 3 inches per hour. Certainly happened today.
