Plowed twice so far today. Two 4 inchers and its still coming down as fast as I clear it. Next outing in the AM. This was yesterday pre-snow.

Make sure you search for the spot light variety.  Most of what is out there that isn't an arm and a led are flood lights.  Although bright, the beams don't reach out far enough.  I learned the expensive way!  My plow tractor is the only one of my rigs that doesn't have LEDs yet.

I know many wont want to hear this, but I am a bit envious of the plowing!  I am sitting here waiting with two rigs ready to go!

Envious of someone having to go out in the cold? Something's not right with this guy

I've never had enough snow to plow. If we get much more than 1/2" of snow, school is cancelled for a week, and everyone stays home from work :D

Hey I never claimed to be!  The cold has never bothered me.  When I was a kid, the first snow we had enough to run the snowmobiles, I'd be out there at 4am riding before school started (it was a contest to who got out first) in little more than a hooded sweatshirt!  That and working in a meat cooler for years has made me resistant to the cold.   I love seat time out in the snow no matter the machine I'm on!

Was wondering if anyone uses skid shoes on their plow blades? Going to be my first time using a plow on a tractor and in the pictures I dont see any skid shoes on the blades. Shall I invest in some or leave it alone? Any thoughts I would like to hear them.

I don't. I have a paved driveway and like to get right down to the pavement. There is a wear bar on the bottom of the blade that can be replaced, so I'm not worried about wearing out the blade.

I live in the winter/water wonderland Michigan.

And we've got about 3 inches of snow this year.

Today's snow is about 1 inch and by Saturday it will all be melted. My poor c160 is sleeping the year away.

If you have a hard surface driveway, no shoes.

I have a gravel yard. The first storm or two I plow some gravel with the snow. I have a set of shoes I'll remember to install eventually.

I use the implement lift handle and set the blade about an inch off the ground, so I don't plow to much of the stone that's in the driveway.

I'm going to try doing something similar when the hydro is set up.

Leave it solid link and adjust as needed.

Might work.

Might not.

I have shoes on the C-160 cause there's no easy way to regulate the height of the blade. On that I can just drop the blade and go. I still set it about an inch off the surface, but the shoes tend to dig in a bit if the ground isn't frozen hard first.  With a 1/4 mile driveway it's a pain to have to rake the stone back into the driveway in the Spring.
