Turned the shank down to fit .500" drill, bench test engines ie: mag and compression some first starts for barn finds.

what do you stick the square in... just a socket?

Probably a socket to fit the flywheel nut.

Had some experience with these hand held drill starters.     Things get pretty  knarly when the engine fires and you can't get the starter disengaged. :scared-yipes:

put one on the nut of a small Tecumseh because I was tired to pulling. Bucked when fired splitting the flywheel cone at the taper. I suppose it tightened the nut too tight rather then my wrist. That there job went to replacement.
