B-85 Snow Plow?

Does anyone have experience attaching a plow to this tractor? Tractordata and the user manual states that a plow can be used. However, this WH does not seem to have the Unidrive transmission. Not sure if the standard WH plow will work?

No they won't. It 1978 the B series became just a lawn tractor and had different attachments. Yes, there is a snow blade for your tractor but I'd be very careful. The transmission won't take a beating like a Unidrive can.

Agreed. 

 

Not sure where the attachment point is on that plow. Certainly isn't something you want to snot beat and thrash around like a cast iron unidrive.

Thanks everyone. I agree this is no Unidrive tractor. However, I bought this tractor for my dad to tow stuff around the yard. Was hoping to be able to have him clear slush with this, no snow. We seem to get several storms where the snowblower is useless.

 

So this looks like a front mount plow by Gary's post. I have never seen these on CL/FB near me. Does anyone know how many WH had this setup?

They sold many of these tractor models but no way of knowing how many purchased blades. They have come up in our classifieds.

 

Familiarize yourself with the loose pieces necessary to hook it to the tractor. These parts often get separated from the unit when it comes off a tractor and sits in the corner.

It can be used, but it is not sensefully recommended.

 

i use also as backup a 212 Horse for Plow, but as allready stated, the Gearbox is the biggest Weakpoint here.

They last sometimes more than peoples think, but it is definitively not build for hard Working.

Lot‘s of them i see cracked after a good Winter while be used as Plow machine.

 

Remove lightly slush with a springloaded Plowblade can be done, but keep away of any fixed Blade on that Tractors ( Mower).

A spring loaded blade will tilt, and if it begins to tilt, that point should be used as limit for the Gearbox.

Let me say it with pictures..

 

I using my vertical 212 for a lot more tasks, it ever be designed or made for.

 

Firstly i built an FEL made of Aircraft Aluminum.

in second step i increased the lift height up to over 2 meters.

 

 

A ride with load in that height can tilt you and your Tractor very quickly, so you have to be carefully of what you do.

 

 

The FEL was a massive helper, i enjoyed on several Tasks... i.eg lift the Mowerdeck

and even in Winterjobs..

 

 

It surprises me allway’s with it‘s flexibility and durability, no doubt about.

 

 

It worked like a champ several times,

without my first vertical horse i had little more problems in January 2019 to fight the massive Snow we had.

 

The Gearbox lasts, all my doings but the front axle wears little faster than i hoped.

That was my reason to release the 212 with the hardcore FEL Jobs to another bigger Machine.

 

The gearbox wasn‘t my problem at all, but i don‘t rape it hardly.

The maximum load i give it, was my own Weigh, + a 38 Kilo Battery and in Winter chains.

In summer it works just on it’s own weight plus a counterweight double the Bucket weight of the FEL.

The Battery can be seen in the first Snowpict behind the Rear axle.

 

The Tranny annoy‘s me, because the reverese gear was just as fast as the 3 forward.( 5 speed)

That was not enough for a quick moving and too slow for me to work efficiently on short Way‘s Snowplow.

As long as the Tranny doesn’t block, it seems to last, but it can be also differently on your‘s.

 

I did all this Tasks with carefully moving, to not to destroy the

I‘m sure a full block on the Rear axle can crack the Gearbox definitely.

But at least, it definitely my Vertical was able to do much more than i ever could believe or imagine, 

even lot of guy’s told me - it‘s just a Mower.

That is also a reason i keep it after purchasing my 656, because it‘s one of my Horses.

 

However, this Gearboxes can not be compared to any Unidrives from the Horizontal machines.
