Pullstart 62,922 #1 Posted December 14, 2020 So once I get this cap cleaned up, what’s the trick to get all the springs and pieces aligned for re-assembly?
Pullstart 62,922 #2 Posted December 14, 2020 Apparently admitting there’s a problem is the first step!

I got it, but it likely wasn’t pretty looking in the shop for a minute!

I was thinking a heavy plate to hold them all down, slotted to allow removal, over engineering at it’s finest. A handful of tin scraps and whallaah!

BTW what are you doing with an electric starter PULLSTART! It had a little chatter on the bushing, but a dab of grease helped. WHX?? 48,834 #13 Posted December 14, 2020 I was always a little nervous about putting a starter in the parts washer. 'Fraid of wrecking field windings? SG's anyway. Always just used brake parts cleaner.

I think I went through two or three this way last night.
WHX?? 48,834 #15 Posted December 15, 2020 Gotta hate it Kev when you come in to the house with starter dust all over your hands and you wanna smooch from the missus and she tells you to go wash up first. The crap does not come off! I usually get the "phew you smell like parts cleaner"
