Lane Ranger 10,946 #1 Posted December 13, 2020 (edited) I have had several varieties of sickle bar mowers made by Wheel Horse (and even a Haban on a B-100). But I have never placed a 42 or 50 inch Wheel Horse Sickle Bar Mower on a B or C model from 1974 thru 1979 with the PTO bell pulleys. I am sure it can be done when the front drive pulley plates for the sickle are placed in the third and fifth from the front of the Wheel Horse frame. Any idea what size belt needed to operate the sickle on a B or C tractor ( or even later Toro models) ? I know Wheel Horse made the sickle bar mowers up until at least 1979. Any pictures or belt information on such a setup would be appreciated! Also most of the early Sickle Bar Mowers had the engagement clutch already installed on the outer right side plate where the 5 inch drive belt pulley runs. IndyFord2 50 #3 Posted December 24, 2020 Gotta jump in here fellas. (Hi again Lane) From what I can tell using the W/H "Attachment & Interchangeability List" the OEM mower was only offered for a few limited years.(66-69, 72-73) And in my opinion "John Q Public" don't really need one of these, there's enough 3 legged dogs runnin around already. I am in the middle of creating an adaption contraption to run the mower. Originally designed for foot pedal disengagement, I'm going to build an idler to work with the PTO on my 76 C-120 1st pic is what I started with 2nd is what I got now 3rd, Just bought this from Wheel Horse Parts & More I get it built, I'll post pictures.
c-series don 8,668 #4 Posted January 2, 2021 Here you go Lane, this is my 50” sickle bar mounted on my C-121 8 speed. The original pedal to engage/disengage the unit is now basically just a tensioner. You will see that bar is excessively long only because I’ve never cut it back! The double pulley on the bottom is the only one I could find to get the belt to line up without changing the bottom shaft. I simply engage it using the PTO lever. Hope this helps! That looks good. What size pulley and belt did you use for tht PTO to Sickle? I like that setup. The width of the two race pueely looks good for the sickle shaft. Thanks for sending this as there is a guy in Indiana trying to do thsi.
