Paint color for 1950 Pond walk behind

Recommended Posts

Does anybody know what the original color for a 1950 Pond walk behind would be? I have found some paint that is a burnt orange shade under the handlebar grips. Not as orange as an Allis Chalmers. More of an orengeish/redish shade.

I was thinking maybe a Kobota or Huskavarnia orange. I think the reds links Wheel Horse, IH or Massey will be too red.

The wheels are black.  Cinton motor should be Hunter Green.

Since the tractor is 10 years older than me, I'm open for suggestions.

WHX??

He had one  in another thread Madge but yes jalink could use some more!

There is always a couple at the BS but seems to me they were red and black????  I could be dead wrong.

I know a guy that has a Shaw built one with Harold Pond's intials welded on it and I thought it was black and red with a green Clinton too. CRS

Have to see if I have any pics. Might be some in past show pics section too.

Red is the worst color for fading and most colors have some red in them so the degree of fading varies. Today's technology has made improvements but still not perfect. Red has historically been the most expensive color and the amount used to get the final color dictated the price of automotive paint.

Not the first time I have heard of red changing to orange.
