I put an after market carb on my K161. As with most after market carbs, I had no low speed idle adjustment.  Turn it all the way in, back it off 5 turns, no difference. I decided to replace it with the original carb that I rebuilt. Now I have low speed adjustment. While I had everything off, I thought I would share this. When I got the motor, the air filter backing plate was all broken around the mounting holes. Someone had put in some washers and spacers trying to hold it in place. I ordered another one from Lincoln. He sent me this one. I have never seen this before. Maybe it's pretty common, but it's new to me. It has an extra bracket on it to bolt to the side of the carb. You will have to tap these 2 holes to 8-32 (you will need a bottom tap) and install a couple of short studs. I think this bracket would be pretty easy to make and install on any backing plate.. I'm sure it cuts down on vibration a lot. Just an FYI

To adjust those china's finest carbs, with one hand toss it up in the air, then swing the baseball bat at it, usually that works.

Nos Oem kohler carb are out there big money if you can find one.  Anytime i see old used oem carbs I buy them they are easy to rebuild

Used one from Lincoln and rebuild it. Done that at least twice. It's the absolute way to go.

Fix it with washers. Easy.
