WHX??

Sad news is went to put a new shifter boot on her and figured as long I was there check the dog point and clean. Tink went the dog point right at the usual spot. Rest came out easy but I know somewhere in this mess I have new shifter dog point setscrews... where the missus hid them I have no clue. More on order but no seat time. :crying-blue:

I am debating whether I should paint the rims or not. The fronts the paint is totally gone and the rears not far behind. Thinking not but clean and perhaps clear coat with a duller maybe satin finnish to preserve or just maybe oil?? Have to insult Mike about it he knows better what to do than I.

You'd be proud @Shynon .... I dug hard into that old box of saved hardware to come up with proper patinas!

Well you bunch o' nutcases went an done it again.

You folks know how Trina has a liking for the 60s square hoods.... And then I made the grave mistake of showing her this thread.

I didn't even know that a 1045 with round fenders was a thing until this past week. I've seen the builds of @Sparky Mike and @pullstart Kevin but thought they were a personal preference.

Well remember that 856 gifted her by @Herder Adam... We're going to put the military engine in it I got from @Stepney Spenser. Seeing the 1045 I told my female we already have the fenders and tool box. Looks like I'm gonna need a seat spring and seat....

@WHX24 nice work on that rig Jim. Always nice to see any old horse getting fixed up but especially the not so common ones.

Thanks EB this one was fun to clean up. Might just pull the front end apart to day to clean old grease off.

I thought I had some pictures of it when @prondzy had the bug fogger on it maybe he does. One cool attachment.

The head bolts were wicked loose so another reminder to retorque them guys. I should have popped the head and decarbon and see what's in it for a piston. May do that yet.

Oh, I meant to put in a vote on the wheels and seat.

Was it me I'd paint the wheels all four the same new (off-white/linen/Navajo white) you prefer.

The seat too for some reason I feel like it needs a recoat.

That bug fogger. .. I have the tank of one here. Nothing else. The builder of what was once the Baby Farm Tractor Project had used it as a fuel tank.

Since I couldn't put the shifter back in and had a fill point open changed the tranny fluid and added a magnetic drain plug. It needed it

Put some Ospho or other phosphoric acid product in a spray bottle, put some plastic under the tire to protect the concrete, and just spray away the rust. You will be surprised how much paint is under the rust.

Agreed Richard. Cleaning off dirt & rust around the filler plug to keep from falling in and some red underneath.

I vote to matte clear the wheels. Oil could attract dirt. And I see you cheat with the gear oil pump. Nothing like gear oil on the tarmac!

Very handy to have in my quest for an oil change without spilling a drop! It is actually supposed to be for pumping gear oil into outboard lower units.

This is one nice little tractor Kev. I like the muffler... reminds me of a WW1 Maxim machine gun barrel! Am I right!?!?

I recently posted a thread about testing Oxalic Acid to remove rust. Well I soaked the front rims tires and all on the 1057 I recently picked up. Then buffed them with a scotch rite pad and sprayed them with satin clear. No before picture. Here’s the installed front rims.3580C100-5A0F-41D3-BA3A-BB04F835C188.jpeg.9f95cff1477737e80f0aec10d84f7a3f.jpeg

This old tractor cleaned up kind nice after a bath. It’s not original paint but still has some character

Primered and put on one of Dan's seat elevators today. Made a feeble attempt at repairing the seat pan but hind sight being 20/20 prolly  shoulda just took it to Dan and let him work his magic. It will be ok for a show cruiser  tho.

They raise the seat a tad on spring seats so the edges don't rub on the fender. See the marks half way up the fender. Some guys just use a stack of washers but then the seat likes to swivel.

Yepp. Saw those marks. That's what I figured.
