Fuel pressure regulator for electric pump

Recommended Posts

Man In Black

Hi, I recently asked the question about using an electric fuel pump on my 8hp Wheel Horse tractor and was told that a 2.5-4 psi would work and I have been looking at some videos on U-tube showing also including a pressure regulator to not over pressure the carburetor but some are showing using the regulator between the pump and the carb and some are showing putting the regulator in the return line and the gas tank . Does it matter and what would make more sense ?  I'm thinking between the pump and the carb with a "T" fitting also diverting the excess pressure back to the tank . Thank You for your response.

I don't have an electric pump on any of my own tractors but it seems to me if you bought the Facet pump  1.0 to 2.0 PSI you would not need a regulator or a return line

Not having ever bought one I don't have an immediate source to recommend but I would imagine if you googled Facet brand pump and find their correct part number you could get them at many sources online.

I used a Mr, Gasket #42s rated at 2-3.5 psi. No return line, works great. :)

i do believe Facet makes a 1 to 2 PSI fuel pump , as said google should find many suppliers

i have found that using an electric fuel pump with the correct PSI is better than adding a regulator. if the regulator Youtube videos show is one of those dial ones like that Mr Gasket sells they are total crap , i would not use it if you gave me one free.  Holley makes an 1 to 4 PSI adjustable regulator that is actually good

I've heard about that adjustable one but the 42s is not adjustable. :)

yes..... it's the fuel pressure regulator  sold by Mr Gasket that  is adjustable , and not the fuel pumps they sell

If you stay under 4psi you shouldn't have a problem. I use Facets 1.5 to 2.5 psi cube style. About $58 on eBay. Free shipping.
