oliver2-44 10,079 #1 Posted November 29, 2020 (edited) I was looking for some carb information and came across these. Exhaust Stud Installation Kohler Exhaust Stud installation Kohler engines have an 'interference thread" on one side of the exhaust stud. This larger thread is designed to be inserted into the head and stay in place allowing for easy assembly and removal of the exhaust system. A "Dot" is used on one end of the stud to indicate the small thread side. When installed into the cylinder head the "Dot" should be visible. kohler Throttle_Choke_Shaft_Guide.pdf Edited November 29, 2020 by oliver2-44 3

EB I'm guessing, but I suspect this is a special Kohler item. I previously had taken an exhaust stud I have to Ace and the studs in their Hillman drawers did not match the one side with the Kohle " larger interferance thread"
Mickwhitt 4,883 #11 Posted November 30, 2020 It would be easy to make a thread slightly oversize using a split die. I made my own brass nuts for the new exhaust flange on my kohler. Im having fun with mine splitting the flywheel key down the middle and screwing the timing up. Looks like it may be a while before I get her running again.
