ebinmaine 68,342 #1 Posted November 26, 2020 Working on putting my Charger back together and the park brake lever does not go down far enough to disengage fully from the gears. If I pull down on the pawl lever about 1/8" more than the mechanism will move it, it does disengage fully which leads me to believe my linkage is worn. There doesn't appear to be any large amounts of looseness in any particular point but I'm sure that several small amounts are adding up to the issue... Also, there is a groove in the bottom of the pin that rides on that lever. I do realize that's an issue as well. What's the best way to go about making this work properly? Should I get a steel bushing that is the correct ID for that PIN and say 5/16" larger total diameter? Are there specific places that I should be looking for a lot of wear? Here's a thread that shows a similar issue. @953 nut @Achto @pfrederi @daveoman1966
pfrederi 17,866 #2 Posted November 26, 2020 (edited) I just filled the grove with JB weld and filled about round. Try that first Edited November 26, 2020 by pfrederi

Even if you sleeve it you will want to fill the groove first. If you have a sleeve go for it. or weld it and file it.... Achto 27,756 #5 Posted November 26, 2020 (edited) I usually weld the groove shut then grind it back to shape. Installing a thin wall sleeve over the pin may also be a good option. On one of my tractors I have, I had to build the lever back up also as it was warn a quite a bit. Edited November 26, 2020 by Achto

ebinmaine 68,342 #9 Posted November 27, 2020 I put a pic in the other thread and I'll share it here for future reference. Here's my temporary stop gap measure. I put 2 steel bushings on the pin and sent the lever downward by doing so.
