P220G carb problem

Recommended Posts

lynnmor

Those high resolution videos take forever to load and don't fit on my screen, didn't watch them all.

Warm the engine thoroughly.

You have three screws to adjust.

Back off the idle speed screw three turns, it is located away from the carburetor near the throttle cable end.

Turn the idle stop screw on carburetor to get about 1000 RPM idle.

Adjust the idle mixture screw in and out, find the mid point between too lean and too rich for best idle.

Readjust idle stop screw to 1000 RPM and readjust mixture if necessary.

Turn idle stop screw to 1200 RPM.

Finally adjust idle speed screw near throttle cable to 1400 RPM.

Now adjust the maximum governed speed by going full throttle.

The throttle cable should push the governor part against a tab.

Bend that tab to set the high speed to 3600 RPM.

Done.

@lynnmor  Whew ! ... That was a lot...but I did ask for it and I DO appreciate it.

I'm sorry that the videos are hi-res and you couldn't watch them.

I will see if I can change the resolution on my phone.

The screws you described I believe I know where most of them are.

Am I correct in assuming that you are describing them as shown in the Onan service manual ?...because if so that will help me to use as a reference.

Thanks a million ! Will update progress soon.

Just curious, if you were sent to the store for milk, bread and eggs, do you need to take three trips?

Nope, I would not need to make 3 trips:lol:,

But I may have to write it down !

I like your sense of humor...you were being funny right ?

I cannot thank you enough for teaching me things about my Wheel Horse !

I do not take it for granted.

I will pass it own to others when I can.

I will refer to my service manual, go step by step according to your instructions, and tune it.

Thanks Again,

Tim (Horse Newbie)

I just wanted to point out that you are making too big of a deal out of these simple adjustments, and do it in a humorous way.  Relax and just follow the outline I provided.
