Jeffrey broke a tooth

Well I told you guys I had rescued a dog from the local animal shelter. He arrived at the shelter injured, possibly hit by a car. He had surgery to close his wounds. Spent 5 weeks in the shelter healing, then a few days at a foster home before I took him home. I couldnt have asked for a better dog. Loves everyone, acts like a perfect gentleman. I took him to my vet after I got him where he got a clean bill of health. The very next day after his visit from the vet I noticed one of his canine teeth was cracked. Called the vet, they said not an emergency, made an appointment for 12/8. Well now it broke right off. Called vet again... they still say if he isnt bothered by it still no emergency. Cant figure out how he could have broke it unless it was cracked from his previous injury........ ughhhhh. Anyone ever have to have a dogs tooth pulled?

I’d listen to the vet (not an emergency) and your dog... if he isn’t bothered by it, don’t sweat it until your scheduled appointment...

I agree, if it is not bothering him, just wait for your appointment.

 

Our sheltie/terrier mix had a couple extra teeth that had to be removed.

Great looking dog.   So glad for you he has a good disposition.  

 

My son volunteered at a shelter for several years.  He saw all kinds of dogs there.  Some were badly treated by their former owners and almost too emotionally damaged to make up with people again.  Those were the toughest to get adopted.  

 

It seemed like every week he found a new favorite.  It’s a wonder we don’t have a dozen dogs living with us!

as long as it didn‘t affect on chewing it‘s normal meals or chewing bones, it seems is just an cosmetic thing.

if he start prevent meals, it can be a sign it hurts him, 

but as long as he eat normally, let it be but have an eye on it.

Great looking dog. I'm happy that both of you found a new friend.

 

Our Pomeranian had to have a few teeth removed, think it slowed her down for about a day. After that it was life as normal & she was able to eat better as well. Don't sweat it too much, animals are great at adapting.

That is much quicker than my dentist would see someone.

All baby teeth should be gone by 6 months.
