Crmaverick 91 #1 Posted November 20, 2020 (edited) On my 753 someone has booger welded the steering shaft where it meets the arm for some reason. While I have my front axle off I should probably swap this out before the welds snap. I highlighted on the 753 where its welded and the 854 diagram of what it looks like I need. Can this be done or are the lengths different? Would the 854 steering be considered an upgrade or should I just look for a 753 shaft and link? 953 nut 56,384 #2 Posted November 20, 2020 I don't own either model but I would say it is very likely that the parts will fit. Why don't you just grind off the welds and make a new shaft. A section of 3/4" round stock can be purchased at any machine shop/welding shop.

rjg854 11,628 #4 Posted November 21, 2020 @CrmaverickLook up the manuals for each tractor and compare numbers, they just might be the same, as well some other models might also work, the Ponds were quite frugal when it came to parts being interchangeable. The cast iron front pivot link that the tie rods bolt to on the 753 is pinned to the shaft. On the 854 it is steel and welded so different part number. That is still not saying they will interchange. I think that welding them was an improvement for 64 models and why someone booger welded mine, probably sheared the pin off on the steering arm.
