ebinmaine 67,290 #1 Posted November 19, 2020 We've gone through a fair amount of lock washers in the last couple years. Figured it was a good time to stock up. I was paying anywhere from 11 to 15 cents each by the small or medium package. Bulk pack is 4.6 cents each including freight. Good many years supply and a money savings. 13
WHNJ701 4,165 #2 Posted November 19, 2020 I didn't do the math but I guess that's cheaper than tractor supply, bulk hardware per pound?

I don't have one convenient to my travel area. We do a LOT of online shopping for constantly needed items.

Quick service too. I think this order came from the fleabay. Next time I'll try direct.
WHX?? 48,790 #10 Posted November 19, 2020 I do McMaster or raid Dan's @Achto hardware collection! I get it next day but they seem to rape me on shipping. Guess that's what you pay for next day delivery.

Definitely use McMaster for other things but the hardware wasn't competitive once I added shipping.

Been shopping there for 35 years. 1 1

Stormin 9,981 #14 Posted November 19, 2020 I don't use that type of washer much. We call them spring washers BTW. I prefer a plain washer with a nyloc nut or a drop of Loctite with ordinary nut. When I was working we had a Loctite rep visit. His recommendation was plain washer and Loctite.

I use them on flat surfaces ONLY where they're supposed to be. Also been getting in the habit of Loctite as well. Never used it until this year.
squonk 41,037 #16 Posted November 19, 2020 Bolt depot is great. Yes McMaster charges a lot for freight but just about everybody does now. My last McMaster order was for high strength 7/16 fine threaded rod in 3 foot lengths and some external tooth 7/16" lock washers. I was worried they would ship in 2 packages but they jammed the washers in the shipping tube.
Zeek 2,286 #17 Posted November 20, 2020 I've used Bolt Depot as well with good success, especially if you want something special or with a different look.
Pullstart 62,799 #18 Posted November 20, 2020 A while back, I grabbed some 9/16” fine thread bolts from them, along with same thread and 7/16-20 “prevailing torque lock nuts”. I chased the threads of the nuts with a tap. They made for a great set of hardware for inside wheel weights for a WW-93 weight set, and lug nuts for 5 lug setup too!
