Not having much luck.

 Number two grandson is having something of a bad run of luck these last few months.

Got himself a job as a delivery driver for Amazon early in the year. But packed that in because they hadn't been exactly honest with him.

 

After applying for job after job, finally got one in an hotel. Really liked it, but got paid off due to the effects of covid on the tourist industry.

 

More applying for jobs and now has a temporary short term warehouse shift job in a super market.

 

Last night sometime, some low life's sneaked down the track to where he lives and stole the rear valance off his car. Whoever did it knew just what to do and made a neat job. Not a mark on the car and didn't set the alarm off.

 

The thing that really annoys me though, they have a security camera setup. But his idle father couldn't be bothered to reset the tape when it got full.

 

BTW. He has found one on e-bay for £150 but will need painting to match his car. If he went through his insurance he'd have to pay £600 excess.

Rear bumper. But as a bumper useless as one, like all cars these days. Just a plastic moulding.

 

The term valance used for the trim round a car is not really correct. Is usually used for fabric trim round furniture etc.

I heared a lot of rumors about amazon as Employer, but mostly not much good.

 

I hope his luck will turns into positive.

maybe that’s the better way to go.

I don't even know what to say other than stay strong and carry on buddy. I hope the young man is not too discouraged. Sounds like he is really trying hard to keep his head above water. Best wishes for you and your family.

I have a buddy who works for CBRE, the world’s largest property management company.  His work is at a new Amazon location nearby.  The employees are well paid, fully heated and air conditioned and treated fair.  I am sad to hear that such a profitable giant would have locations that are lacking in those areas.  I did hear, though that they are working on building another local facility (that would be #3 in West Michigan I believe) that will be fully automated.  I have a hard time seeing how much they make, that they wouldn’t employ people to keep the ship afloat.

Seems like they are springing up everywhere. They bough blighted property south of me,in Akron and are supposedly building one of their facilities. I see their vans everywhere now.
