I am planning on a similar angling method as the OEM blade...in Louisiana we don't get enough snow to sweep up much less plow  I think I'll use 8-10" pipe for

the pin holes and sandwich it between the 2" square tubing I used for the blade arms with 3/8" flat bar.  Any suggestions?

 

I am also planning a tilt arrangement on the back of the blade.

I am building this for my brother who has a need to grade a gravel road into his place.  If he can tilt the blade as well maintaining the low angle ditches

on either side of the road much easier.  As planned it will be a manual adjust arrangement not controllable from the seat.

The muffler is coming off tomorrow so I can work on the plow frame. I will make a support bracket for the stack later on.

The plow blade I have has a three position angle arrangement in either direction, so I can push to either side.

I'm looking at the anti side float problem too and will come up with something.

@Mark Bartlett and @Mickwhitt sounds like you both have a good handle on the process. 

 

Mark you'll want the "tilt" to be able to lean a fair amount top/forward. The bottom of the "("  of the plow will be near vertical. That way it won't be so prone to dig deep and stall. 

Several small bites will be easier digging/scraping for the Horse.

Another good day of fabrication. 

I made up the solid link between the lift arm and plow frame.

Made the plow support bracket from 32.mm Square bar threaded M12 with a high tensile bolt through the back plate.

I may put some steel plate round the base of this bar to stop it twisting, or weld it in place.

I fancy keeping it removable so I can fit other attachments.  Watch this space.

This is how Fred looks with the plow blade in place. It swings from straight across to angled either direction, locking at three different angles. 

Im pretty happy so far.

Next is the anti sway mechanism at the front end. Im looking at using the mule drive mounting fir that in some way. 

Then I'm thinking about making a bracket and bar that will sit in the Tachomatic mounting and secure the plow for travelling.

mickwhitt, don't forget to drill 2 holes for rear mount arm safety clips , if you don't have them ,at the worst time the rear of the frame can drop , been there done that ,  nice looking set up you have there , on the front end of chassis to axel mount, I replaced the top center bolt with an " 3/8 "EYE BOLT  ".  and also on  the forward steering quadrant , area , using a stretch spring makes plow lift easier . improve any area that makes it easier / smoother to use . I test build mine on milk crates , and roller stool around it to verify smooth easy operation , make snug fitting movement points , use a hi temp grease , that will not fail . if you set it up and detail it , that's how it will work on your horse. pete

First attempt at a vertical stack.

I reused the parts for the low down system so its a bit of a compromise.

Bit of a beefy mounting onto the chassis. Not much flexibility so its stable enough.

Bit more tinkering to do before I'm happy to finalise the position. 

May use shorter flexible pipe and a longer, thinner stack.

I like the idea of a thinner muffler. You wanna get fancy you could even adapt the pipe and muffler together as your stand. Take some round tube/square tube welderizing.

I need to see a few examples of stacks so I can get some ideas.

I wanted to leave the hood free to open with the exhaust in place rather than have to remove the stack to check the oil etc.

I am limited with the overall height of the stack because of the low roof height in my store.

I fitted the tachamatic bracket to my plow. Meas I can lock the frame securely when travelling.

Works pretty well. The frame is held rigid for travelling from jib to job.

Just got to sort the anti sway mechanism now.

Also done the drop out catch locks by putting a threaded hole in the bracket so I can put machine screws in to stop the cams moving.

Looking good!  I made a little progress today with my blade project.  I decided to limit the angle choice so I could make the stops heavy enough for dirt work.

Finished my plow today. Im going to use the current blade for snow clearance and make a smaller dozer blade for shifting soil if I need it for the community project.

Im really pleased with the way this project turned out. No initial plans but a rough idea where I was heading.

Eric,  its 38 inches wide by 18 inches deep.

We don't get that much snow here but it will be fun to drive round.

The dozer blade is to scrape soil and grass off the pavement to keep it clear of weeds etc.

Im thinking just a flat plate with a blade if some sort.

Im still thinking about it lol

The rear attachment bracket is really good. Strong and easy to fit/remove.
