Frankinhorse in E Texas

Recommended Posts

pacer

Anybody in the NW Texas area interested in a 'frankinhorse' on CL - 1054 or 953 can almost make out the S/N, looks to be a Predator engine and the ... hood/grille??? Several more pics in ad...

Guys asking $150, not bad if just for parts.

The Hydro pump ot to be worth that!

kind of interesting looking and looked like a possibility of a little thought went into it! :confusion-confused: I'd say go for it there's well over $150 worth of parts there!

Yeah, Sears - or at least a clone, Ive got one. I loved that thing, had it on a Suburban and was building my house then and I doodled dirt with that thing like crazy, What was so nice was I could put down pressure on the blade with my hand on that lever and it was great. I could spread a 10 yard load of dirt/gravel in about half an hour

Doubtful if it's on the east Tx craigslist, but I'd like the look at the ad anyways. Can't find the ad just like @oliver2-44, maybe it sold?

I don't go out east much, so I'd probably not be interested.. There's a deck out that way that Jim told me about but i haven't had time to make a couple hour trip to get it.

Driving from my place to where that Horse is is the equivalent of driving across like 5 of the little NE states

It's only around 100 miles more to drive from the Texas border to Princeton, WI than it is to drive across Texas.

 @ZXT @jabelman @The Tuul Crib @Stepney

@WHX24 I figured this was as close (825 Mile round Trip) as another 953/1054 would come to me, so this horse has a new home.

@953 nut it looks like its serial # 18735. Is there a way to figure out if its a 953 or 1054 based on that number?  If not, is there anything else that I can look for that would indicate what year/model it is?It has the rack and pinion steering, so am I correct this would make it a late 953 or a 1054?

To make the trip worth it, another horse in Far East Texas near Elkhart jumped on the back of my truck.

@pacer I gave you a wave since I was in your larger area.

This one was advertised as an 856 but it actually is a 1056.

It started out on Facebook marketplace at $600 several months ago and was down to $200.

I told them I was coming through the area and since it looks like it has been sitting outside a long time I would give them $150 if the transmission didn't have water in it.

They said come load it up for $120 so I did.

I had to take the hood, front bumper, front wheels and rear 3 pt hitch off the Frankenhorse to move it forward so this one would fit on the tailgate sideways on my Fords short 5.5 ft bed.  Just a hauling method I learned from @pullstart

More picture of both to come in a new thread for them!

Cool finds, what's that spear thing on the back of the 1056?  Looks dangerous!

@jabelman that was part of a homemade plow bracket. The vertical spear was a hand lift like on a Sears garden tractor.  It all mounted in the Slot Hitch.

Congrats!  I’d see about plopping that 10 horse in the big wheel frame and get the proper era hood and grille set in place it that were my project!

Oh Whow,

was that a original solution with the 4 hole spindles or been they reworked?

I’m lurking along allready for such 4 hole Spindles, thinkering also may be to build a set myself,

but if they be available from Stock i‘m highly interested in.

@Tractorhead The rear 4 bolt hubs are standard on the WH 953, 1054 and possible the GT14, ie the WH Big Wheel Tractors

I saw that listed a couple times but like you I thought the price was a bit ..... unrealistic! Good to hear you got it, and WAY better than the first price!!

Stefan, I have a set I can put aside for when we see each other... easier to get on a plane than a transmission :handgestures-thumbupright:

Excellent, Jim! Looks like you have something to keep you busy over the winter now. The 1053 looks like a pretty complete tractor!

Good finds for sure.

They just sigh and shake their head.
