The Tuul Crib 7,336 #1 Posted November 13, 2020 Been having issues with the local lumberyard on this back porch build. The first batch and order they sent out had three or four bad boards it took a month and a half to get them to bring me out replacements. Now only a week later after they brought me the replacements this is what happened to one of them! They were perfect when they delivered them! Sad
Stormin 9,981 #2 Posted November 13, 2020 That supposed to be a seasoned board?
The Tuul Crib 7,336 #3 Posted November 13, 2020 Yeah at a premium price as well in one weeks time this is what happened! They didn't send it through the dryer long enough!
Kenneth R Cluley 515 #5 Posted November 14, 2020 I replaced a 4 x 4 pressure treated porch post and came back about a week later, it had turned almost 90degrees! Needless to say it definitely came from the pictured tree.
Achto 27,509 #6 Posted November 14, 2020 I see this quite often with treated wood in my area. Treated lumber is insanely expensive right now also, that is if you can get it. On a lighter note: That board should be perfectly suitable for a Dr. Suess building. 1
Pullstart 62,800 #7 Posted November 14, 2020 Just give it about 34 relief cuts, it’ll flatten right out! Or, being that it is hunting season, just string it and shoot you a deer!
formariz 11,987 #8 Posted November 14, 2020 In a Sunny day wet really well a big area of lawn and place board concave side down on it . Keep an eye on it for a few hours. When it is straight pick it up. It should stay relatively straight. The twist you will have to live with if you can.
JAinVA 4,619 #9 Posted November 14, 2020 (edited) Just look at the growth rings. That is some shitt# looking wood. That log should have been turned into landscape timbers.I saw my own lumber for non coded use and would burn a tree that had rings that coarse. WHNJ701 4,165 #10 Posted November 14, 2020 A good friend of mine owns a successful lumber yard in new York state. It's kinda of scary what he is telling me with supply right now
Stormin 9,981 #11 Posted November 14, 2020 Timber supply is somewhat slow over here as well. Been waiting over a month for boards for the back of the farm cubicle shed.
