Tristan Jordan 5 #1 Posted November 12, 2020 Hey guys, so i was thinking about putting a predator 670cc engine on my 312-8 before, however i wanted to keep the kohler name on my horse, i also have always loved diesels, so i thought it would be perfect to just combine the two, i was looking at the 16 hp air cooled one, i just wanted some input from you guys to see if it was a good idea and would work for me since im making a pulling/ work tractor. any input would be greatly appreciated

IT IS AWESOME !!! I have yet to find enough work to make it pull on the governor. On light duty it takes about 10.5 hrs to burn up 1.5gal of fuel. Pulling a 10" Brinly plow it takes about 6hrs to burn up 1.5 gal of fuel. If you are building a puller check your local club rules, some clubs don't allow diesels. 1 5

You will find that the Hatz & the Kohler will be comparable on price and most likely reliability.

Even with decals! How easy (or hard) to start? Cold weather up there is WI! Edited November 13, 2020 by DennisThornton Can't spell! 2

Hopefully someday before I die I'll have enough time to add something myself. Until then I'll look, smile and dream. Maybe drool a little.

If temps are below 20 degrees, it will protest being woke up by huffing & puffing white smoke for the first 3min or so.

That's pretty dang good for a rope pull diesel at 20 below!

The rope is there, but you really don't wanna use it. Even at 90 degrees! She don't pull over to easy. I've broke the rope a few times trying to show off & pull start it. The electric starter spins it over very well though.

If the very expensive Harley battery which is the only one I could get to fit it is up to snuff. Scares me sometimes Dan i know your tractors as well as mine!

I have a 10HP gas ACME on a BMS tractor that is a PITA to start! And almost not worth it if cold! I was blown away that a 10hp diesel could be rope started in the cold! OK! Database adjusted back to normal. Little glitch. Little long term damage and I'll get over it. Hopefully...
