Sparky-(Admin) 21,311 #1 Posted November 6, 2020 Looks like a going out of business sale or a tag sale here...but it isn’t. Shed took a huge hit when a tree dropped on it in a windstorm last Sunday. Frame work is severely bent and a few pieces are snapped. None of my stuff was damaged so that’s good. I’ll spend today trying to shore it up to al least get me thru the winter. Right now most of the shed contents are in the yard and a few items including a couple tractors are in the garage. 3
WHX?? 48,790 #2 Posted November 6, 2020 I'm there for ya Mike.... What I think I am gonna do is just get a big cheapy tarp and tie it down with parachute cord to the lower cross members. Temporary till I can get a real shed thrown up. 1

WHX?? 48,790 #4 Posted November 6, 2020 What with the crazy lumber prices now I am headed that way Jeffrey... spring 2021. And make sure my home owners insurance covers it and everything inside.
pfrederi 17,672 #5 Posted November 6, 2020 The damage from, a big falling tree on one of those metal sheds will be pricey. May want to relocate to a safer spot.

Pullstart 62,799 #7 Posted November 6, 2020 Glad the structure was the only loss, Mike! Uncle Jim, that’s been torn for quite a while pal. You should probably do something about that before it snows again! 3
bottjernat1 2,190 #8 Posted November 6, 2020 Or grab one of these pre made jobs. I own 2. My payments were less then $100 a month. I own a 10x16 with a double loft and a 12x24 with a double loft. I love both of them. Metal roof lifetime on it and the hidges and lock. My little one i paid 3,000. my big one alot more but i had the big one all custom made. reinforced floors and picked out my roof color and a door up front for the loft access. I could have built a pole barn for what I paid for both. But I live in a mobile home for now. and i wanted something to keep my late dads toys inside.

This red one had to built to code, snow load 30 pounds per sq foot rated and wind rated for 130 mph... But if its covered under a home owners policy ? Sparky-(Admin) 21,311 #12 Posted November 6, 2020 So it’s repaired enough to get me thru the winter. Had to get creative since a couple pieces of the frame were unsavable. Left the original top on and covered the entire thing with a new tarp. Kinda dark inside so I’ll have to add a second light fixture. 7
WVHillbilly520H 10,373 #13 Posted November 6, 2020 Solved for now 👍.

I bought a better grade tarp so who knows, might get a few years outa this setup. 3
DougC 2,641 #15 Posted November 6, 2020 Looks good to me to store for winter. And your property taxes won't be increased either!! I can have as many 10x12 sheds as I want but nothing larger even a portable shipping container will increase my property taxes and portable should have been the key word with the county Auditor..........
WHX?? 48,790 #16 Posted November 6, 2020 (edited) Looks like I'm off to get a tarp. Are those just fender washers and bit tip screws holding it on Sparky? Edited November 6, 2020 by WHX24

I gave much thought to that '95 520 but it always came back to something more permanent and a better investment on my ranch. WHNJ701 4,165 #18 Posted November 6, 2020 Had the same thing happen yesterday to the mustang shed,. Those people at shelter logic have it down to the exact day that the cover will fail. I was one step ahead and had ordered a replacement one over the summer. Not bad had it swapped in about 1/2 hr.

Yes, but just holding the front in place. Down both sides I have rope thru the tarp grommets tied to eye-bolts.

When I enquired about a replacement and to register my beef about their product I got the too bad for you talk. I asked them why they wouldn't just sell the product with the better or the best cover I think I got the deer in the headlights look. The replacements were 800 and over a grand. No thanks I'll put that towards a good barn. I will not reccomend Shelter Logic products to anyone ... not even Squonk! Guys that are buying the real cheapy smaller ones are getting years out of them.

Down here you never see the "sheds" that are pictured in this thread. They just don't seem to make sense to me. Expensive, they fall apart, etc.. Before I spent $1000 on some EMT with a tarp thrown on top, I'd buy a shipping container for $1500. Likely more sq. footage, last forever, and while a tree might damage one, I wouldn't count on it falling through!

Maybe some Pict‘s of the last damage on the Tarp helps you to get it Accepted on the Town Official‘s. What was the main troubles with them on your side? Sealed Area below or the ugly?
