Well, this has spark!

it’s unbelievable how massive this really is!  IF (that’s a BIG IF!) it ends up under a Wheel Horse hood, it’ll have a funny set of stacks with the intake on the right and exhaust mainly on the left!

That'd about be the equivalent of when I shoehorned a '71 400 Ford into a Chevette 10 years ago.

Just. Wow.

I seen that done several times over the years with a small block chevy. A 400 Ford is every kind of bigger than that.  You must have had to use crowbars and lots and lots of persuasion.

I’ve never heard of a Ford in a Chevy.  Chevy’s power classic Fords all the time, but that’s different.  Any pics around of that?

He probably warmed up the Chevette In the oven a bit and tossed the 400 in the freezer too!

It involved lots of sawzall blades and a plasma cutter.  Once we cut back to solid metal (which took a lot), 2x4 square tubing was welded in for a frame and a Ford Ranger axle set up with a quad link in the rear.  I will hunt down some more pictures, it was several phones ago.  The Chevy orange really got some people as many thought it was a big block Chevy at first.  I forgot how far the engine sat back.... if the distributor was on the rear like a GM engine, it'd be more like a cup holder now.

Hand cranked this bad boy to life tonight!  I used brake clean to hear it fire and with the residual oil in the exhaust from completely filling this engine to sit for a year or so... it gave me a delightful 30 weight bath!

I have video too, but have dropped the iPad one too many times... and have no internet reception.  :hide:  Time to get some major repairs higher than my pay grade and get a better bulletproof case too!

I prefer 15W40 but either is greatly preferred over 80W90 gear oil.

You haven't lived until you've had a bath in the old limited slip fluid with the additives in it....

No, I haven't.  But I was on the ground floor for when many of my friends had that privilege.  I'll respectfully decline.  :eusa-snooty:

Burnt ATF is nasty........ It ranks right up there with burnt clutch material and burnt electrical motor windings. :laughing-rolling:
