metalhead0920 10 #1 Posted November 4, 2020 Hey Peeps, so the never ending debate on transmission lubricants...I have a 1077 and I know the original manual says to use type A transmission fluid only, and I'd like to think the people who designed and built these tractors know best what to use. With that, it appears my tractor has been switched to oil. A big part of me wants to put it back to ATF. If I were to do that I am assuming I would have to get ALL the oil out. Any thoughts on how to go about that and should I bother? If I stay with oil, what kind is best? Sorry for the loaded questions.
pfrederi 17,866 #2 Posted November 4, 2020 Flushing is time consuming, messy and wastes a lot of expensive fluid. I have sunstrands with ATF and others with motor oil. no issues. Stick with what is in there

Possible more harm done trying to switch.
