oliver2-44 9,696 #5 Posted November 5, 2020 One of the machines pictures was made by the Letourneau Comp[any which was originally located in Longview Tx (Far East Tx piney woods) The owner prefected a diesel electric drive train (similar to how a Locomotive work) for use in very large equipment. He also started Letourneau University which still is in Longview. I toured their factory in about 1977 or 1978 as part of a college weekend they offered for interested students. They have been sold several times and google tells me their technology is now sold under the Komatsu Larg Mining Equipment Division. They made some interesting Jungle clearing machines for the military during the Vietnam war.
