Nothing a few weeks of learning wouldn't fix but we wouldn't want the general public to get all stressed out about having to do something new.

I have a zero turn with a joystick, works great.  I would only want that Mercedes if it had a mower deck under it.

My memory recalled the "wrist twist" design from  a fifties era 4 seater TBird concept but internet search turned up the 65ish Ford wrist twist version.... 

 

I am pretty sure I saw this concept in the fifties but here is the 60s version... the steering is done form the twin circles.

Honestly... most people don’t use their steering wheel very often anymore, so why have them?

Nothing new.

In 1990 Saab does same under the codename „prometheus“

 

because Saab made it out of their roots from Aircraft products an try if that works,

but they floped with that idea, curious if it now will work to bring it in wider spread but i doubt.

Autonomous drive is that close, but also not finally complete released because of safety.

 

So i would today more preferr an autonomous drive, instead of a Joystick,

but i like my conventional Steering wheel best, and the feeling i be the real Captain on my „ship“ on it‘s course.

 

Few months ago i went in Netherland with an Peugeot provided with all available driver asisst systems.

That was my worsest driving experience i ever had, the permanently try to overrule me was more stress that a normal drive.

too much patronage by assistance systems allows people to be more inattentive.

If than an assistance system fails - I don't want to think about it.

Definitely not my way to drive.

I've never had my hands on one but just imagine an 80,000 lb semi truck with all that crap ......

Sensless procedure crap i can see it Daily on Mercedes Sprinter we had or even up to the MAN 18Ton.

 

But the most idiotic Start Procedure i know is on an KTM XBow.

 

i like the optics of the XBow, but to fire up that thing ..... hahaha 

 

Put key in the keylock, 

press Stop button to initialize,

Wait until Display show‘s Ready to Race,

Tap on Clutch and Brake,

Press the Start Button.

if you be lucky, the XBow fires up.

 

Why they not simply have a key to turn, i never will understand such idiotic Procedures.

 

 

Drive the XBow is also that unspectacular, because too much dooleydoo‘s...

I like more the pure drive of an Caterham 7, there is more feeling on Mountainraces,

even on the ones with much less Power.

Even the Start procedure is just put the key in lock press clutch and - here we go...
