Jim Turner 42 #1 Posted November 1, 2020 I noticed on the tractor data website they list a 42" deck as an option on the 855 tractor. My 877 came with a 32" deck and it appears that something is broken at one end because the blades are not in sync. I wanted to get the biggest deck I can fit under my 877. I think it must be a 36" deck and the listed option for a 42" was probably in error. Anyone have a link to the manual for the 877? I found downloadable manual section difficult to navigate or search for an 877 manual. I am probably doing something wrong. Thanks.

rjg854 11,351 #3 Posted November 1, 2020 I think an 8hp would be underpowered for a 42 inch deck.

gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,033 #5 Posted March 13, 2021 The picture is a slighter older model than the tractor. See if this helps Garry

I have 42 inch in nice condition that came off a charger 12 that I will give you if you would be willing to meet me in St. Louis Missouri. I have it listed in the classified for sale section here on RS.
rjg854 11,351 #7 Posted March 13, 2021 I could be wrong, but I don't think a 42" deck off a Charger will work under an 877. The 877 is a short frame tractor, and I believe a Charger is a long frame tractor. The 36" rotary mower under my 68 Commando 8, comes really close to the rear wheels. But that's real nice offer, just the same

squonk 41,040 #9 Posted March 20, 2021 42" deck will not work. Tractor data site has a lot of false info. Biggest deck was a 36" RD for that tractor.
evanloock 221 #10 Posted March 20, 2021 There was a 42 inch deck for the short frame tractors and it was PROBLEMATIC......the RM-425, They are rare, parts aren't available, and like I said they had many issues due to belt routing, attachment system, etc.
Stepney 2,325 #11 Posted March 23, 2021 RM-425 was a mechanical nightmare but was in fact a standard 42" shell. With some ingenuity a sears suburban sort of mule drive/tensioner could be rigged up to work, or a standard with a regular PTO clutch. Only say that because I saw a Commando 6 rigged that way once. But the short frames were all underpowered for the job.. so it's not really worth the thought IMO.
