So just out of curiosity is this going to be exclusively snow driven or some sort of mud stuff in the forest or whatever?

Mostly snow and show. I'm sure it will make its rounds around the property once or twice. We have a local ice fishing derby to benefit the kids. Alot of guys bring out there vintage snowmobiles and odd gas powered conveyances

I ask because during my research on what to do with my Big wheel I found that a down-pointed exhaust is not advised in any forest and illegal in a National Forest. (sparks)

 

That's part of my reasoning for a stack. Plus cool factor.

Good point. I just had the fact in my head of it may be quieter out the rear

It certainly would be. Especially if it has longer pipes in the system and then  dumps straight towards the ground like underneath where you sit or under something very solid.

 

I thought about doing that on mine so it would be quieter but I can't because it's going to be almost exclusively Forest used.

With this being a mitary themed build stealth would be a factor. Although I can see the govt putting a stack on.

Funny how that works isn't it?

We have a good friend in Augusta that has a 1957 deuce and a half and a five ton that was built a 20 years later maybe. 

 

Quiet is not one of the things I would put anywhere in any paragraph describing those vehicles...

 

And they both have stacks.

YUP! I went with the stack. Decided to keep it a bit low and thought I would go with a different cap style as well. It has a resonator chamber, defuser perforations and a 360 degree baffle system all packed into a 2.5in exhaust pipe. It will be interesting to hear it run.

Me too lol. For the most part it's ok. It's just making sense of and deleting all the extra garbage from a harness that I hate. I did get it done other then the main batt cable and the headlight wires.

I hit a road block with the test fire. Anyone want to give me some insight on grinding glass? My new sediment bowl leaks. It's just a bit to big to fit in against the rubber gasket

As long as it isn't tempered (shouldn't be) a belt sander would work well.

I used my flapper disc on the angle grinder. There was only a little bit that needed to come off.

I think I should have gone with a differant gear ratio. I dont think this is going to be a speed demon

Yes you did. I can still change sprockets thou. I guess we will see how much power it has to spare to turn into speed

Maybe adjust the sprocket size after the screws are on because the screw thread per ft will also have quite a bit to do with it.

That's kind of a tough one to figure out as more threads will give better grab into the snow but might be too slow to matter if there's too many. An aggressive spiral may not get enough grab and slip. Then of coarse you have different snow conditions to contend with as well.

What he said.   Then I'd start with 80-120 or so if you don't need to remove much and go slow and let it cool between tests.

      Hey guys I have been given a box of these flap wheels.
      5.25" x 1.5" with a 1" arbor hole.
      I instantly thought great I can put one on my bench grinder. 
      Nope!    Not that simple.
      The arbor size is different, and it's to wide to fit inside the the guard.
      I thought of removing the guard but would like to have it there.
      I guess I could make an arbor adapter and a spacer for the guard,and a new tool rest,etc. More time involved then first thought.
       
      Does anyone use these, and if so what do you have it on?

      Hello fellas. I bought this 211-3 tractor. I have no clue how this mower deck comes off. I need to fix some areas on the deck, as well as replace a clutch cable. I can't seem to find pictures of a complete deck for this model as it should be. Need help.

      I've had some stuff laying around for a while now. I've had some ideas kicking around my head for a while as well.
      Well they met each other a few days ago.
      This is going to be a camp buggy of sorts. 
      Like any of my other builds I would appreciate any input anyone want to donate.
       
      The base is an 1982-88 Yamaha G1 golf cart.
