Tension both sides? Maybe 2 idlers on a single piece of steel bar that pivots in the center and you can spring load it :scratchead:

That would take up the slack on both sides of the loop for different directions.

That's not a bad idea, but with a ridged tensioner, would I need 2?

Ridgid just one side, the loop can't go anywhere if the chain is tight. Depending on which way they turn for forward, I'd locate it on the opposite side of the drive side. Thinking you would be going forward a lot more than reverse

I'd consider an idler sprocket.  Maybe mounted on a slotted bracket parallel to the run of the chain.  Slide it closer to the drive or driven sprocket to tighten the chain.  Use a hefty shoulder bolt to hold the center race of the idler sprocket bearing.

I hadn't actually thought of running the idler in that direction. I had thought more of pushing in the 90 degree direction of the chain travel. Interesting. When the parts show up I will have to put that into consideration

That sounds about right. What I'm starting with is just the idler sprocket itself with integral bearing. All the rest will be built.

There has been a battle going on in the garage for some time now. Tonight I finally won. The hubs are off. Onward and upwards.

Success after the struggle has a particularly good feel.  

Today dropped a small nut while working on an Onan P218 and it fell into the blower housing.  45 minutes to get enough tin off to retrieve the nut and button it back up. Sigh. Note to self, in future cover things with rags to prevent similar accidents.

:text-yeahthat:Afriend was assembling a small block Chevy at night.  The distributer was not yet installed.  A June bug came along, circled the trouble light three times, then flew down the hole in the intake manifold for the distributed.  They found the bug in the oil pump intake.

I do that too. I've dropped enough stuff in the wrong places sometimes I get overly paranoid about it. I tape up all open holes

Never had a bug fly into an engine. They always show up when there is fresh paint though

Just yesterday I received a strange 41 lbs box with my work shipment stuff. It's actually for some guy the next town over. The address and name aren't even close so it's only complete incompetence why it was dropped off here. Maybe the guy a couple towns from you is wondering why your stuff is there and I'm sure the guy Eric is wondering where his 41 lbs box is.

Good thing they legalized weed huh? Sure makes things more interesting

Ya you just never know do ya. Well if the guy a couple towns over could swing by and drop off my parts I would much appreciate it 🤣🤣🤣

Did ya have a plan for covering your steering handles? I've been using Plasti-Dip for some other stuff and to make little spark plug caps for my 2 stroke tools. Bet it would work to get rubber handles on the irregular shape if your interested. It's about $15-$20 for a dip can so not too bad. Never tried the spray stuff

LOL. If he is maybe he has some better ideas I could use. Yes I was thinking of using the black Tool Dip for the control levers. I  could really use those parts. They are my idler sprockets and chain.

 A couple of weeks back a friends son, big strapping farmer, ordered a box of razor blades. Parcel that arrived contained ladies cosmetics. Lad got some stick over that. :D

      Hey guys I have been given a box of these flap wheels.
      5.25" x 1.5" with a 1" arbor hole.
      I instantly thought great I can put one on my bench grinder. 
      Nope!    Not that simple.
      The arbor size is different, and it's to wide to fit inside the the guard.
      I thought of removing the guard but would like to have it there.
      I guess I could make an arbor adapter and a spacer for the guard,and a new tool rest,etc. More time involved then first thought.
       
      Does anyone use these, and if so what do you have it on?

      Hello fellas. I bought this 211-3 tractor. I have no clue how this mower deck comes off. I need to fix some areas on the deck, as well as replace a clutch cable. I can't seem to find pictures of a complete deck for this model as it should be. Need help.

      I've had some stuff laying around for a while now. I've had some ideas kicking around my head for a while as well.
      Well they met each other a few days ago.
      This is going to be a camp buggy of sorts. 
      Like any of my other builds I would appreciate any input anyone want to donate.
       
      The base is an 1982-88 Yamaha G1 golf cart.
