Sparky-(Admin) 21,311 #2 Posted November 1, 2020 I wish “they” would end this business. Unless someone can make me see a real world positive reason for moving the clocks back an hour. 8

Me too, you would think that a mature society would have enough common sense to adjust their schedules to the available daylight. I mentioned this on another forum and they pulled it, too political.

I see no positives - On the current time, when I leave for work it is dark, and when I get home I have light to do stuff outside. Works out great. Once the time changes tonight, I'll still be going to work in the dark, and I'll be driving home with the sunset shining in my eyes, and it'll be dark about the time I get home. My least favorite part of the year by far.

We did it last week and I didn't forget the change. Just which way the clocks went. Put them on an hour. 7 hours ago, Sparky said: I wish “they” would end this business. Total blackout of course. They did try leaving them alone about 54yrs ago, but children were going to school in the dark. They walked there in those days, if the school wasn't far away.

I was at the old home place, my brother lives there, and seen a school bus goes by. I told my brother there is a bus coming up the road......he said these kids don't walk anywhere anymore. Besides they torn down the school you walked to 20 some years ago. Split the difference and let the time alone.
Tractorhead 9,064 #8 Posted November 1, 2020 (edited) That timechange was the most senseless idea they will be turned to real. So 2x in year i have to fight with a Jetlag the next 3 Weeks. several months ago they asked the peoples about that change if it has to be stopped and the result was. 98% of the asked where for an immediately Stop on that summer/ Wintertime change. So they agreed, and announced to stop that change, but nobody tells in witch millenium that will happen. 🤪 that was in 2019 and they thell it will depending several months.😂😂 I will do this next year for my own, there is abolutely non sense behind, even the Powersave that be offered to start that project was the opposite, more Power will be consumpted in this periode. Also the idea of the increased productivity was an blame, the productivity drops, while peoples have to fight with a Jetlag. Nearly all arguments they beeing used to establish that timechange are actually ad absurdum, Time to stop that idiotic timechange as fast as possible. 953 nut 55,091 #9 Posted November 1, 2020 I have an alarm clock that is programed to set the correct time for any time zone where it is plugged in. It also was programed to reset for Daylight savings time. Unfortunately that programing was done prior to Presidents G.W. Bush and Obama making changes to DST so now that clock is off by an hour for a week in autumn and three weeks in the spring. However, my cats have impeccable internal clocks and get ne up on time every time. Now if I could only find all of that daylight that I was saving all summer long I could see what is going on outside.
Razorback 1,035 #10 Posted November 1, 2020 I had an older clock like that. Twice every year I would get reminded that I needed to find a new clock because of that old built-in DST schedule. That’s usually as far as it would go until we finally got us a simple bed-side digital clock that we have to set ourselves. Seems really silly that a perfectly good clock can be made obsolete by the stroke of some politician’s pen, inevitably resulting in MORE crap being bought from China. I’m getting to where I really dislike “automatic” stuff.
Ed Kennell 38,024 #11 Posted November 1, 2020 My clock is easy to "Fall Back". The time piece can only be moved CCW. To "Spring Ahead", I have to stop the pendulum and restart it in 23 hours. It does take it 4-6 hours to resync. the 1/4 hour chimes and the hourly gong. 1
