I attach a photo of the serial numbers casted onto the transmission. I would love to know its age. Sadly I do not have the serial number of the tractor itself.

That is the casting date of the transmission case. It is June 30, 1959. -JD-

Thanks. So does that means my Suburban is an early example or a RJ? I am led to believe mine's a Suburban 400.

Best if you can post a picture of the whole tractor from different angles.

I have bumped up the original post 'Can anyone identify this model?'

From the pics of the other thread, the frame and front axle are not RJ. Tractor is most likely a model 400. The difference for an early 400 would have been the belt guard. Parts for a 400 or 550 will help you complete the tractor if that's the intention. 550 is the same tractor except for engine and some engine components.

Tractor was offered for sale as a 1960

Many thanks for confirming it. I attach a photo of what I think is the belt guard? I cannot upload the photo as it's too large....

The ridges on the top of the hood and the and the square hole at the back of the hood, and the front axle indicate it is a 1960 Suburban 400.  The transmission casting date and the solid seat pan go together to indicate it could be an early 1960 Suburban.  Since it was itn pieces I would contact the seller and see if he has the throttle and choke assembly that goes in the hoods square hole.  The tractor serial number is on the plate that goes on top of the throttle/choke assembly.  I'll try to you get a picture of one I have apart.

Oliver, are these reproductions parts readily available? I have a source for the 1960 foot rests and the throttle controls. I am in need of a belt guard as pictured and the fuel tank from Hapco is currently out of stock. I am also in need of the clutch pedal assembly too as mine's missing. Thanks
