formariz 11,987 #1 Posted October 30, 2020 Since I now don’t have to worry about anyone else’s work I have time for the time consuming task of checkering. Great job to clear ones mind and think while at it. 4 4
953 nut 55,092 #2 Posted October 30, 2020 Next thing you know you will be skipping alternating line and doing a basket weave. Nice work there. 1
oliver2-44 9,696 #3 Posted October 30, 2020 Beautiful work. Many years ago I checkered an old plain gunstock. It didn't look anywhere near as perfect as your work. Might we be seeing some wood inlays on your Wheelhorses!

I actually like to do the fish scaling rather than the basket weave. It all depends on what it goes on. 4 hours ago, oliver2-44 said: Beautiful work. Many years ago I checkered an old plain gunstock. Its on the round and diamonds need to be much smaller and come to a point on top. On a tool however they would get destroyed quickly from being knocked around a bit.

It’s a specialty plane used for the first step in dressing rough lumber. Essentially a special rabbet plane. For now it’s the flagship of the latest fleet. The others are stippled each a little different. Two more to do. I might just do some basket weaving and fish scaling on the last two @953 nut 2

formariz 11,987 #12 Posted November 3, 2020 That is actually five down. Two more in this batch although I might leave one plain without any checkering or stippling.
Pullstart 62,799 #13 Posted November 4, 2020 Would you mind a small video of the work? Especially seeing it be cut around the curvature?
