Dennis C. 142 #1 Posted October 27, 2020 Picked up a 1987 312-8 with a 37" side discharge deck. Tractor had the wrong size wheels and tires on front and wrong tires on the rear. So I purchased the correct rear tires and correct 6" wheels and tires. Now I am having issues with the cutting height of the deck. Being unfamiliar with this type of deck I don't see any adjustments for leveling the deck other that the 2 wheels at the rear of the deck. If i raise the 2 wheels in the rear to the top hole the raise the deck the nose of the deck angles down chewing up the turf and hitting every stone that I didn't hit before. Can this deck be leveled front to rear for cutting height? Thanks in advance for any help.

dcrage 627 #4 Posted October 28, 2020 Check that the deck is attached correctly. The “fork” on the front must capture a small rod across the forward part of the tractor. It is easy to miss and if not in place the deck movement is messed up. Also did the tractor have 8 inch front wheels. If it did you probably have spindles for 8 inch. 6 inch spindles are longer.
