Does any one know what 8 speed transmission will fit into a 753, if any. Thank you.

@pullstart Kevin has put an 8 in a round hood. 

He'll chime in at some point. 

 

I'm kind of thinking most any 8 will go in there but your linkage might be easier to adapt if you can find a SIX and then you would also end up with Limited Slip Differential.

I'm pretty sure just about any 8-speed can be put in, but some will take more work than others.

 

If you look for a Unidrive 5060, then it will be the easiest to swap in. It has the brake drum / brake band in the same spot as your 3-speed, and has the LSD differential as Eric mentioned.

 

The later 8-speeds have a different brake set-up, and will require some modifications. Also, some of the later ones have a dipstick fill port on the top that will have to be modified or removed.

 

I put a 5060 into my '68 Commando 8 (had a 3-speed) and it bolted right in, no modification to the brake arrangement.

I put a C-101 8 speed in my 502 “Putt Putt”.  I never did complete the parking brake, but I generally keep it on a flat area anyway.  
 

I agree with Eric, a 6 speed would be a direct swap, shy of relieving the tool box for the hi/lo shifter

I put the 8 speed Unidrive from a 1979 C81 in my 854 a few years back. As discussed above, the dipstick and tube needed to be shortened due to the fixed seat. I had to remove about 4 inches as I recall.

Used a brake rod from a Raider 10 - hooked right up. The picture below is while the project was ongoing - I later shortened the Hi-Low lever a bit.

@ebinmaine i do believe they are lawn trac otr. I know they definitely dig in pretty good for tugging stuff around.

I know for auto tires, “siping” the lugs is commonplace for better winter grip.  It is pretty much a ton of tiny razor blade cuts in the lugs of the tire to make each new section grip the ice and snow better.  I’d love to see what siping some of my new Interco Interforce tires would do for wintertime use, but feel like the solid heavy lug is required for plowing fields even more.

I love that shade of green on that tractor, I'm not a huge green fan but the shade and the wear Mark's just make it look that much tougher!

That would be an interesting experiment. I know that dirt oval track racers sipe  their tires for better grip, but then again they are on hard pack clay. I'd have a hard time cutting up new tires to try this out though.

I have no reason to change the look, shy of more power and functionality!

My in-laws race dirt... they have a siping machine for that in fact...  :eusa-think:

I've located 91-11B801, 8 speed transmission, does any one know if this will bolt right or will it need modifications.

It comes from C-111 tractor.

The good thing about this one is at least its not to far from home.

It will bolt in yes. 

But the brake linkage is a little different.

You'll need to drill a hole in the toolbox. 

 

See the first few posts and maybe the other folks can answer more specifically.

That's what we're all here for.

Keep asking questions. Jump in to the build. You'll find a thousand more queries and every one will have an answer.

You’ll surely know more when you start turning the wrenches!  I believe most of us here are hands on learners.  You might read about a process (or me, dream at night about the next step in a build/project over and over all night) but nothing compares to rolling up your sleeves and diving in!
