Organized chaos.  Momma’s out of town so I don’t sleep much anyway.  I’m playing man vs. machine.  I gave the machine the super bad wheel.  This second one wasn’t terrible.  I’m starting to get quite a bit of shiny steel on the inside of the wheel.  I checked the e-tank a few minutes ago and I can already flake the beige paint off with the SKIN of my finger.  Unreal.

I'll agree that the 8 and 53 stamps probably mean August 1953.  Ought to be another two digit stamp on there somewhere to indicate the day of the month.  That other odd stamp looks like it might be a trade mark.

 

I've used Bondo to fill rust pits in beadseats before painting with pretty good results.

 I used JB weld on pitting on Suburban rims. Sanded them in a lathe with sand paper wrapped around a board.

The real bad wheel got pretty far last night.  I swapped them out to do a little clean out and check my progress.  In man vs. machine, it’s good that I can sleep and it keeps working!

Ok, here’s a good question.  Regal red is very close to this paint color.  I’m shining up the wheels.  Should I paint the drums and lug nuts too?  Make the whole rolling stock look great?

@Pullstart  thanks for the red grease picture ! love it when I  see a good service , sure the horse responds to it also , once I  started going lubrication nuts , everything just started to  function easier , then went on to , electrical , and functional detailing , it all ads up to a very easy running / moving horse . your tire / wheel work looks good  , weather is saposed to break , bout done with the Sahara  pete

I am using more primer than planned, so a trip to the ACE is in order.  There’s also a farmer’s elevator in town I might check out.

If you buy the Ace Brand Paint be aware that it sprays okay but it covers VERY poorly so expect to use a lot more than normal

Yeah, I try to stick to Rustoleum for the most part.  I did 5 coats of grey in the front wheels yesterday with about 1.5 cans.  I dusted some ACE red on those two wheels and almost ran the can out!

As you know my Local Paint Department has a pretty wicked leaning preference towards Rust-Oleum 2X.

 

We got some of that Ace brand paint for experimental reasons so that I could try to match a reasonable close color to the Automatic that I picked up.

Tried it on some wheel weights that were a couple different colors and to say the least, she was not super impressed with the coverage.

 

Seemed like it sprayed and functioned okay ... if that's the color that matches your senior, just be prepared to use nearly twice as much...
