Mud dobs...on the outlet side. it’s a metal one... the good ones! I don’t want to throw it away....... but here’s a thought just throwing the fuel pump into the gunk carb cleaner??

You'll probably be able to just pick that stuff out of there with a unfolded paperclip or something but it would be a lot better to remove it from the fuel pump and clean it out with a small wire brush or q-tip

Most likely will be usable once cleaned

I have a Wheelhorse dealer about 10 miles away, that I am thankful for!! You know what I love about Wheelhorse? They used the same parts for approx 30 years... like the gas tank grommet and shut off valve. I know you can get generic. But the WH dealer had them! I am gonna get the gas tank on it with brand new line... and put the battery in it...tonight!  I am still waiting on the carb rebuild kit.

This is the fuel line that connected that fuel pump to the carb... there was no carb on it...and the fuel line  was rock hard, I mean I had to cut it with my knife.

Just replaced all the fuel stuff on my '75 B80 earlier this week and had the same problems.

My gas tank was dry, and my carb was in a cardboard box inside! 👍 the only thing I have to worry about is.. the coil, the fuel pump and the voltage regulator! It came with an extra voltage regulator.... question is what’s going to happen if it needs a voltage regulator? I’ve never replaced one of those before...

Voltage reg. is a simple replacement, unplug, remove two bolts, remove.

Ya, I know... but what’s going to happen? Low to no voltage?  It’s incredibly simple wiring just a key switch and clutch switch!

With engine running you should see 13.6 to 14.5 volts.  If not next make sure regulator has a good ground.

Yup, I always make sure the frame is a good ground, especially on the older ones!!

I put a battery in the B80 for the first time..  turned the key... nothing. I took a piece of emery cloth to the ground strap, and tried a new key switch (which I had), jumped the clutch switch... nothing.. I’m pretty sure it’s the selenoid. I need more grounds!

I install a few extra ground wires when I rewire a tractor.

Also make sure EACH component is well grounded.

Time to get out the test light and work your way through the circuits.

Ok, I installed a used starter today, it is a WH starter. Not much wiggle room in the starter. I turned the starter by hand and it engaged to the flywheel.  Just as it should. But not much wiggle room! Also, a new solenoid.

I got it to turn over!! You know what’s different about a 3 and 4 post solenoid? A 4 post has the ground. A 3 post just relies on the frame for grounding. The 4 post is the way to go!! It has no spark though... that can be fixed!

Ok, I’m ready to install the carb...  it came with the carb, the linkage rod in a box. Ok can some one show me, with a picture, what the linkage rod looks like installed on a B80 from the gov rod to the carb? I dunno if I have it right side up or what! Thank you!😀

Those are the rare dealer option "Super Sticky" tires.

Unfortunately they didn't sell as well as initially hoped due to folks falling off the tractor with a lack of a seat belt.

@AHS that's an aftermarket replacement carb and the settings may be different.

I can get a couple pics of Patriot Horse once it gets light outside.

@ebinmaine I see that. I was looking for the “shiny” part of the carb up on the holes, to figure out which one it has been in for the past 30 years! Oh, I’ve been eating to ask you guys, the factory switch’s that’s go at the clutch panel and the PTO lever.... I’m looking to keep them. Where can I find them?
