Eaton 110 oil change

Recommended Posts

I'm in the middle of my first hydrostatic oil change.  After draining for about 90 minutes (slowed to more than 1 minute per drip), I only got 4 quarts out of it.  I expected the full 5.5 quarts, but figured that's better than nothing.

Now that I'm refilling it, I have 3 3/4 quart in it and the oil is up the dipstick tube (a few inches above the full mark).  I still have the oil filter loose so it can breath while filling, so it seems like the transmission isn't full yet.

What next?  Do  I need to tighten the filter, run it in neutral, and then continue filling?  It doesn't seem like I can have it overfilled...

Also, when I filled in a little over 3 quarts  I noticed a slow drip start out of the center of the filter mount.  I tightened the filter at this point, but then couldn't get more oil in.  I loosened it back up to get to the 3 3/4 quart I'm currently at.

Is there another bolt to loosen to let the air out and the oil in?

Start it, run it forward and backwards, operate the lift up and down.  Stop the engine and recheck.

Thanks!  After your suggestion, I now see that after I add another 0.5 quart in the morning I'll be good to go.  Time to install the plow!

@JohnDThe Pump, lift and part of the hydrostatic circuit does not normally drain. This is actually a good thing, or you might start it with a dry pump which could damage it.
