Rusty Tinsnips 477 #1 Posted October 24, 2020 I made an old MTD snow blade (square peg) fit on this Raider 10 with Tecumseh HH100 (round hole) by fabbing a bracket to mount it on until I find the proper wheel horse blade. I have changed the oil, gas filter, and transmission oil and tires. Put a rebuild on the LME 29 carb but still seems a little sketchy. I put a new spark plug in it and it felt a little "off" going in and felt like it wouldn't get completely tight, like it was stripped. Started it up and it ran for 5 seconds and blew the spark plug 20 feet out into the driveway. Oh man, that sucked. So I put the old plug back in, it seemed to go in fine and snugged right up. Don't know what's going on there, now I'm scared to try and change it again. Right now it runs pretty good. Seems to have a slight miss, can't tell if it's the carb or plug. Have started running seafoam in the gas. Hope it snows tomorrow.

Kenneth R Cluley 515 #4 Posted October 24, 2020 If "old" spark plug tightens up and new one doesn't start in threads properly and won't tighten, I believe it may be wrong threads on plug.
ebinmaine 67,309 #5 Posted October 26, 2020 Nice work on the plow. Maybe take a pic of the OLD AND NEW plug together and post it so we can see...

Rusty Tinsnips 477 #8 Posted October 26, 2020 Thanks everyone. I am hesitant to take the old plug out to get pictures with the new one, but I inspected the new plug threads and they looked fine. I probably just screwed it in wrong, but I'm never wrong, just ask my wife.

Not so much anymore as I grow older and can't remember anything.

I always put NGK plugs in my 60hp Nissan outboard, they worked the best. Old plug is champion J8, I did hold them up next to each other before installation but must have missed some fine imperfection with my old eyeballs. Just took a closer look and the first thread and a half looks very sketchy, probably bad threads. I'll try again to pick up the NGK B6s, O'Reillys didn't have one. Can anyone confirm that to be the correct plug number? Edited October 26, 2020 by Rusty Tinsnips
ebinmaine 67,309 #13 Posted October 26, 2020 J8 and j8c are dimensionally the same plug. Cj8 on the other hand very much not so...

That's what I was thinking, I mean how did I cross thread a new plug and then run the old one right back in. Didn't make sense to me but I just have never seen a new plug with bad threads. There is NO quality control anymore, this year especially.
lynnmor 7,302 #16 Posted October 27, 2020 I know that onanparts.com quit selling Champion plugs because of the poor quality of the threads. I looked at my stash of Champions and they have rough threads, just imported junk.
