Went at Tom - a Buddy of mine, to pick up some used Wood for the Shed,

to construct a higher Storage for heavier Loads.

 

while we are talking about Pickup‘s what i searching

so he give me an offer today for a half restaured Pickup he had in spare.

From 1966 nearly no Rust on Body or Frame all the mechanics shall be completely Mustang compatible,

some problems in electricity and the brakes are done and have firstly to be fixed before it gets Roadapprooval.

 

asked 4500 for the Truck

Unsure, because i‘m not a Ford guy.

 

but it looks Cool and sounds interesting.

 

any comments about ?

Buy it!!! Nice price for something that old 1966 Ranchero Yee Haw! That front end is my favorite Ford look and a Ranchero on top of that........ Priceless!!

1966 Rancheros were an off shoot of the Falcon platform.  The Falcon and Mustang shared many suspension, brake, and drive train parts with the Mustang. Spare parts support is out there.

I learned to drive on a '67 Falcon 4 door with a 200 inch 6.  Windows up, wind at my back, it would top out just shy of 90.  Took a couple of miles to get there, too.

neighbor had similar one at his place last year - but tad older 

 

he installed contemp mustang front suspension etc

Lot‘s of meanings and suggestions, thanks for that.

I have to sort it out.

i had in the Past an Ford Taunus Turnier, what seems similar to the Taurus at your Side.

that was my first long driven Car i had.

extremely reliable but it rust‘s faster than it rides...

in this time i don‘t know much about rust prevention, that was his dead finally.

The Engine has 350.000 Km on the tacho and run‘s pretty well.

the next was a Sierra V6- a piece of crap i had just annoy with.just driven 5000km than i changed it..

that was my first experiences with Ford.

So when i look back on the Taunus, not bad at all.

 

This Truck is about 200 km far, to see it shortly - no Way, but i definiteley like to see it.

i just see two pics on his mobile phone, but i will took few, if i see the Truck in original.

the other screams - are you crazy, now when you empited your shed, you gonna fill it

immediately with a piece of Work,  maybe better buy another Horse.. 

 

I know it‘s not a Powerhouse, but i have a sleeper in spare,

and my everyday Astra ain’t be a Powerhouse also.

if i need go fast. 😎 i get the sleeper and put it onto Autobahn.. 😁😇

 

on the Other hand, there lay‘s a V8 aside, that could be ... uuuuuuhhhh my head....

 

the only thing is, that it must be than changed to my main Car/Truck.

Ok after a complete sealing on all parts on the Truck, i could be go that Way...

But i‘m not sure, if i like to do that and put the Ranchero 24/7 outside.

( independently on fuel consumption and all that other stuff, that is out of this discussion)

when i search for a fuel economy Car, i simply keep my Astra with 584Km on 36 Litres.

The corrosion starts from the inside, in my Province after a unibody repair the vehicle has go through an integrity inspection.

The beginning of the disposable car.

 

My father had a 61 Falcon with the 200 cid, 3 on the tree, round trip to work and home 144 miles, I had just turned 16 when he retired and often used the car for dates.

 

Ya gotta know the girl your dating likes you when the ride your using reeks of cigar smoke and she accepts a second date. I drove them both hard. Tuff little car and she married someone else.

I inherited a '61 Falcon from my Father in Law in 1968.     It was a great little daily driver until a suicidal driver pulled out to pass me on the way to work one morning.

There was an 18 wheeler coming directly at him.  There were houses on the truck drivers right so his only chance to not meet him head on was to turn left in front of me to an open field.

He almost made it across, but I slid under the flat bed  trailer just behind the dual wheels.     I survived, but the Falcon suffered fatal injuries.    The other driver never stopped.

The truck driver was so shaken he could not get out of his truck.

Years ago my neighbor and I converted a 64 Falcon  2 door hardtop 6 cylinder to v-eight with a 4 speed transmission.. I has Mustang engine, transmission and rear end. the 5 lug front end came from a Mercury Comet. We installed a Mustang gauges speedometer.  A new Herst shifter and had to make the shifter rods and shifter mount.  He still has it parked in his shop. 

A neighbor wreck a 67 Mustang is where the Mustang parts came from.

So if i decide to buy this Truck,

i firstly wanna see it for a closer inspection about hidden Rustfields.

Technic can be reworked or even changed, but Rust is a big enemy for me.

 

I trust my buddy Tom definitely so far on his statement nearly no Rust,

but i will see what means the „nearly“

 

Tom is bodybuilder and painter and a honest Guy, that‘s out of discussion,

but when i buy it i will prevent any further rusting by a coating with Mike Sanders and therefore the base must be fine.

My idea is also to coating the internal of the platform with a scratch resistant surface to protect the Body.

 

I thinkering also for internal plastic covers or a protection coating in the Wheelhouses, to prevent damage from Salt and stones,

to keep it as long as possible in good condition and good shape.

but if i doing all that, the base must be worth all of that.

 

A everyday driver must be strong to last all my needs, i don‘t need a Powerhouse at all, but a reliable and tough Worker.
