Lonnie 35 #1 Posted October 23, 2020 After s year I have restored my 854 wheel horse, wired it back in and get nothing. It ran when I took it apart. Does the IGN on key switch go to coil. Have included picks close up and hopefully you can see where the lead to. I have ign to coil, Bat to battery and last one to generator A Thank you for any help. Lonnie 35 #7 Posted October 23, 2020 I have restored my 854 , it started fine when I took it down to frame. It will not turn over, no sound , no crank. Does IGN go to coil? 953 nut 56,057 #8 Posted October 23, 2020 Some times a freshly painted tractor and engine will need to be roughed up a bit to work. Some star washers on the ground wire and on the S/G bolts will help complete the electrical circuit. Is the ignition switch rated for 70 amps? If not the S/G will cause the switch to fail unless a solenoid is added. A 103-990 switch is used in this drawing.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,119 #9 Posted October 23, 2020 Looks like a Blue Streak US-126KA switch. Click on the picture and again on the next page Garry
squonk 41,578 #10 Posted October 24, 2020 You may have a stuck brush or dirty spot on the commutator in the genny. Try spinning the motor by hand a little then try the key again. My 953 will do that once in a while. I give the motor a half turn by hand then it fires right up.
pfrederi 17,953 #11 Posted October 24, 2020 The wires you have running from battery to ignition switch and Center post of ignition switch to A on the genny appear to be way under sized. They have to carry full starting amperage. Should be 6 ga wire.

pfrederi 17,953 #16 Posted October 26, 2020 There are two wires on the A terminal of the generator. Take the small one (from the regulator off) Hook up you multimeter to the terminal and turn the ignition switch to start. do you read 12 volts. If not you have a bad switch (or bad wire from battery to switch...)
