I may be counting my chickens before they hatch here, but here goes. It had to be done.

A few folks here know I'm looking for a deck for my 310. I can repair the one I have, but it's going to be a lot of sheetmetal work.

Seriously though, Big Bill sent me an email this morning telling me about a deck that had just been posted. I check almost every day, but hadn't yet this morning.

 

Bill made sure I new about it.

I'm first in line for a very good looking 42 SD for $50.... Yes $50!
And the seller also has a non-running 312-8 and snow plow for $50 and $75.
Either way, thanks Bill, really.

 

If I score this deck, even if it's just solid sheetmetal, it's a complete home run,. and only 35 minutes away from me.

echris, good luck with that deck, looks pretty solid , late in the season ,is good time to verify what you have.  the glairing issue to me is the caked / rotting bottom side , that's the first area of clean out and oil soak lube to feed the metal and stop the rot, this what I do to mine, https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/discover/content-started/ regular rustproofing / maintenance , is vital , for a lasting deck. at that price , i would go thru it over winter , and I would also upgrade the 6203 spindle bearing grease , to hi temp lucas grease . the bearings will fail and get noisy with out that grease. just my own experience , great opportunity to save a good looking deck, pete

Counting your chickens before they hatch never ends well, does it.

The seller had the 312-8, mower and plow listed separately.

I really wanted to go that day and pick up the deck, but he asked me to wait until the weekend. I agreed, but asked him to not sell it before I got there since I was first in line.
I sent him a message the next morning to confirm his address. He confirmed his address and told me he sold everything to one buyer for more than he was asking.
Didn't even give me a chance for a counter offer. 

Bill D wanted the tractor, I wouldn't mind a snow plow. We could have made it work.

People are just mean sometimes. 

If he told me someone offered him $200 (vs $175 asking) for all three, I would have got together will Bill and figured out a counter offer.

That stinks.  I saw the ad was gone today.  I had hoped you would be writing a post with pictures about the deck you picked up and not this.  I will keep my eyes open for a deck for you.  If you want a plow, two people I know have plows.  Let me know.  Bill

I'm not really looking for a plow. I have two snow blowers to handle the little snow we get here. Thanks!

What I meant was, if getting that deck for dirt cheap meant getting a snow plow and a tractor with a better 12HP for you, I'm sure we could've done a deal between the 3 of us.

He never even gave the offer. That's what sticks in my craw. 

First guy in should get first dibs. If you get a better counter offer, at least let the first guy know.
