Good old heavy American iron that will last. You bet! There IS a bit of guilt that must be overcome, at least for me. That is exactly why I chose a more 'standard issue' Horse, built it with a lot of 'end of service' parts (worn spindles/front axle, holey hood, rusty seat pan, ripped seat, tired K321, etc...) pulley'd it but not too ridiculous, and even retained the governor- set at about 3400. I can mash the gas pedal and 'hold it wide open' and it is no harder on the ol engine than mowing the lawn haha.

I did a similar thing to the high RPM governor on Cinnamon Horse. I don't run any driven implements with it so I don't need it full throttle and I have it set somewhere in the neighborhood of 3200, give or take.

Being a 3 and 4 wheeler survivor and a Horse fanatic, you GOTTA build one! Being from Ohio is a bonus- it is huge up that way! I have only just begun this offroad tractor addiction, I mean journey, and have had so much fun already! Edited March 3, 2021 by Greentored

Lots of rolling terrain and a lot of riding area in the state.
Greentored 3,210 #88 Posted March 29, 2021 Update: The B-1 bomber continues to crawl the trails 2-3 times per week, has made 2 more trips home and back (1 mile each way), neighborhood cruises, and even took a trip to the local dive bar 2 miles away Had some random 'stall and no restart' issues and a weak spark, and replaced the entire ignition system from points to plug wire. Aside from that, which is now fixed, the ol bomb has been flawless! 1 1 1

The golden rule was always 'any time you drive or ride something 'odd' to the bar, you park right up in front like you own the place' haha. Being a little older now, I actually think about things, like cops. Its some serious back country out here but no need to draw unnecessary attention from the man, just incase.
Greentored 3,210 #91 Posted April 28, 2021 Been a crazy time lately between work, side gig, garden, house remodel, but heres some updates: Built a rear bumper and ammo can rack for the B1, and also overhauled the trans, as it was a noisy one to start but has been getting worse. All new bearings and seals, she still has a little whine but no more howling and grinding. The only internal sign of abuse is the reverse gear and idler- pretty rounded off on the edges of the teeth, but who knows what it was like from the last 40 years of use before it got to me. Everything else looked great! Even got a couple decals done to make it official. Having an absolute BLAST on it, and have had zero issues or damage due to off roading and hill climbing 2
Greentored 3,210 #92 Posted August 3, 2021 Debated on whether to update this thread or let it die, as it certainly is a sore subject for some. Whether you agree with antics like this or not, other than the freak broken reduction gear, I have had ZERO issues with broken, bent or failed drivetrain parts, spindles, frame, steering, factory welds, etc... this is one heckuva testament to just how well these Horses were built!! LOTS of updates in the past two months, will let the pics speak for themselves. I made the cut and was voted in to compete in the 2021 Top Tractor Challenge in Pymatuning, PA. Aug. 14th. 6 different courses, 15 machines. Should be a blast! 3

ebinmaine 67,498 #95 Posted August 3, 2021 Personally, I'm with @19richie66. I think it's cool. We all have different thought patterns as to what should or could be done with any given piece/item/object of any kind. Not my cup o' tea necessarily... But cool to see and read about. I appreciate you updating the thread. Very interesting belt/pulley set up. On this idler did you massage/modify the surface in any way or is it just from the belt riding on the flat? I ask because on the Mackissic chipper I've been having difficulty finding a happy spot for the idler and finally determined that the flat surface is actually bowed out a hair. New pulley is on order.... GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Your frame brace is similar but different then mine. The modifications made to any rig of any type are great fodder for ideas on our own tractors. Like Lee states with the frame brace for instance... I've used his idea and also others. Even combined them. It's good to see the strengths that other owners add to their own tractors and what they're used for.
