What size fuel line do most people use, 1/4" or 3/16"?

It's quarter inch on all of the sixties and seventies tractors we have.

I've stopped using black rubber fuel line and switched over to the blue see-through stuff made by Sten's.

23Reo I have found that today it pays to buy the best because of the fuel. I buy only fuel injector line. It is last time I look about $4.00 a foot. You get what you pay for. Old adage like me! Been using for a while now it works for me. My :twocents-02cents:

Last 2 posts are the reasons I switched.

Trina and I ONLY use ethanol free gas but I do minor repairs for friends that burn alcohol. :bitch:

I've personally seen a tractor with lines less than 2 years old that were degrading due to ethanol. No rubber, much less problem.

At one point, I was looking at a motorcycle parts website for fuel line. it was a transparent blue like the Stens brand. I don't recall the site or the product now (never bought any). I do recall it was pretty pricey though.

I'm going to need some new line for my Lawn Ranger, had to re-route the lines for the new motor and I had to cut one to get the tank off easier.

I've thought about the newer, reinforced fuel injection hose as mentioned, one would think it's ethanol safe since it's being used in all modern cars now-a-days, but I've never really looked into it.

On a side note, I did find some blue fuel line at TSC, a brand called "Raider". When I looked online to see if it's ethanol safe (doesn't say on the package), some reviews said it was very stiff and not very pliable. I ended up passing.

One must assume Unless a fuel line specifically states that it IS okay for ethanol, it is not...

The blue line that I use is a little stiffer after having been on a tractor for two or three years but it only takes a couple minutes to change it out if that was the path that I choose to do.

I'm not familiar with the stuff at Tractor Supply so I'm not saying anything about that particular product one way or the other but I've seen some things that were made out of vinyl and simply tinted which is not okay for usage with gasoline.

You may want to check eBay and see if you can get a 10-foot spool of that Sten's line for just a few bucks right to your door . I buy it as a 25-ft roll.
