WHX?? 48,834 #102 Posted October 27, 2020 (edited) Just for some motivation Franky I saved this one... a bit noisy but she moves the tractor! Edited October 27, 2020 by WHX24
Frankenstein 58 213 #103 Posted October 28, 2020 Thanks for the motivation. My gears are pitted but it’s a 3.6 hp tractor should be fine. I’ll put better gear lube in the case. Roller bearing is out now also. 1
WHX?? 48,834 #104 Posted October 28, 2020 Might have been mentioned but Lowell has all the parts for those. You can get the whole kit or just the bearings you need. https://wheelhorsepartsandmore.com/transmissions.html
Frankenstein 58 213 #105 Posted October 28, 2020 I just got my bearings from him. I see what else he has. Thanks for the information
Frankenstein 58 213 #106 Posted October 29, 2020 Every day is a new adventure. Looks like a bearing less sleeve was pressed into my wheel. It’s the Wheel that was on my bad spindle. Never know what’s around the corner with these old tractors.
WHX?? 48,834 #107 Posted October 29, 2020 That's how the older ones were Franky. You need any I got boatloads. 1 hour ago, Frankenstein 58 said: now what’s around the corner with these old tractors. Frankenstein 58 213 #108 Posted October 29, 2020 I believe that’s a 57 wheel from what I’m told. I’m going to look into It further this weekend but if you have one or a spindle give me a yell. Thank you. My nephew started playing with the spindle. He made a new shaft. I will see how it turns out.
Frankenstein 58 213 #109 Posted October 31, 2020 Any thoughts.?? Shifter fork has a lot of stress cracks. It’s just the one closest to the front of the case. 1
Frankenstein 58 213 #110 Posted November 26, 2020 Well getting those bearings out of trans case was fun. But they are out. Don’t ask 1

Frankenstein 58 213 #116 Posted November 26, 2020 Lastly. Does anyone know where I can get another threaded filler neck and cap so I can fix this. I have another Clinton tank but the neck is to small. Thanks.

You can have the same height or you can add a half inch so you can more easily get the cap off to refill. I buy mine from fillernecksupply.com The ones I buy are not screw on but have the two wings that lock in. Edited November 26, 2020 by Lane Ranger
Frankenstein 58 213 #121 Posted November 26, 2020 Ok thank you. My first choice is original but nice to have a back up plan. You can ignore my PM.
Frankenstein 58 213 #122 Posted November 26, 2020 I realize original is basically impossible with the RJs. I had a long telephone conversation with a well respected member here and he confirmed my thoughts. This is a 1957 rj35 conversion tractor to 1958 3 speed trans. He figured very early as it’s the 57 frame. So I’m just doing some mechanical and leaving it alone. I don’t have the original engine. But I do have a green Clinton 1290 that is basically bran new. I’m just saying that my family an I are having a blast working on this rj 1 1
Pullstart 62,922 #123 Posted November 26, 2020 @Frankenstein 58 I am just catching up on this thread, I think I’ve been hiding under a rock! I laughed with you, not at you about the blood. I’ve been there.
Frankenstein 58 213 #124 Posted November 26, 2020 Ouch I just read all that. Well I was using an inside slide hammer bearing puller. Was having no luck so I had a friend heat the bearing and me being so smart. I put a 5 pound weight on the slide hammer. My finger got in between shaft and the weight. Top of finger is still numb but the bearing are out 1
Frankenstein 58 213 #125 Posted November 28, 2020 The day after Thanksgiving turned out well. Picked up a two donor gas tanks to fix the filler neck on my original and this cool little washing machine engine from a very nice gentleman. Thought the orange one would fit but it’s to long and hits the steering shaft. Now to get the varnish out of the original one. 4
