71_Bronco 1,072 #1 Posted October 13, 2020 was just curious how the Wheel Hoorse hoods are held together. Specifically the 60's round hoods.

Pullstart 63,203 #5 Posted October 22, 2020 I don’t want to bring up the topic for fear of virtual flogging by @Stormin and friends... but I have pictures in my dump truck life project build...
Pullstart 63,203 #6 Posted October 22, 2020 There must have been a machine over the years doing the spot welds as there is a consistent pattern... or the same person had that job for a long time! The spot welder must have been inspired by Al Capone. Weld early and weld often!

71_Bronco 1,072 #8 Posted October 22, 2020 Thanks all. I was trying to figure out how easy it would be to stretch a round hood. I could use a bit more room on my Wisconsin Lawn Ranger project, and was considering this as an option. After looking at the hood i have, I dont know how viable of an option that would be. gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,137 #9 Posted October 22, 2020 A spot weld cutter is like a 5/16" hole saw. Most use a center punch in the center of the weld to register the cutter center point but that would bend the outer panel. I use a small drill bit to make a small divot for the spring loaded center point. https://video.search.yahoo.com/search/video?fr=mcafee&p=spot+weld+cutter#id=1&vid=a04145ec4240325dae318354cb0f739f&action=click Garry
