ebinmaine 68,342 #1 Posted October 11, 2020 Folks, on my 1970 Charger with a Sundstrand 90-2046 there is the plastic slide piece that the shift linkage feeds into. Picture below. Besides cleaning this up some how do I adjust the tension? Should I lube it? With what?
pfrederi 17,866 #2 Posted October 11, 2020 (edited) No lube. The big coil spring on the cross shaft is the tensiner Edited October 11, 2020 by pfrederi

The big coil spring on the cross shaft is the tensiner There was some sort of tan grease-ish type stuff inside the slide. No idea if this thing has ever been apart. So just leave the whole plastic piece dry inside and out? No white lithium or dry graphite or anything?
pfrederi 17,866 #4 Posted October 11, 2020 No just make sure you do not lose the two small washers behind the slider retainer some of the ones I have come across have been flattened on one side to maintain clearance and not to touch the sliders edge. No lube that attracts dirt's and stuff.

There was only one and it had been that way for a very long time judging by the wear in the dirt pattern..

pfrederi 17,866 #8 Posted October 11, 2020 You really should replace the motion control O-rings They may not be leaking now ...but they will and it is a lot easier to do it now....

Looks like there's a gasket in between the housing for the motion control slide and the hydro pump. I don't have that gasket..... I did check that all over very very carefully and it is literally not leaking anything at all. It's not even moist. That said, if I like this machine enough to keep it Trina and I are going to partially disassemble it next summer and repaint it and at that point I'm also going to rebuild the hydro unit. pfrederi 17,866 #10 Posted October 11, 2020 It isn't a gasket is is a triangular metal plate that holds the larger O-ring
