Migrating Geese

Geese from various summer feed and breeding grounds gathering for a yearly ritual - speed dating.

 

Thousands of geese will soon form a dating circle, other flocks coming in from other directions join in often you'll see groups departing from the circle heading off in a southerly direction.

 

When i first seen a flock circle was puzzled  then it dawned on me these were dating circles where the young ones born during the summer months are now pairing up.

 

Next part of the puzzle, how do these geese from the various feeding grounds know where to meet in the fall.

 I heck of a lot meet over here. Not for breeding though. Been coming in for a week now. We even get swans.

We get millions of snow geese that winter over here in nj.  I think they come down from Iceland/greenland

They stay here year round in

Tennessee! We also have a large flock

of turkey too!
