Pollack Pete 2,273 #1 Posted October 10, 2020 Well, yesterday, the C-175 Automatic failed me for the first time.I've mowed all Summer with this tractor and I've never had a bit of trouble.Went to move it out of the front garage so My Mahindra Emax 25 could take it's place for the Winter and all I got was the starter spinning and not engaging with the flywheel ring gear.I thought, maybe just dry.Pushed it out to my shop and removed enough tin to get to the starter. The bendix wasn't engaging with the ring rear.Pulled the starter.Pulled the bendix off.Of course the wire retainer flew somewhere into the next county, and I found the threaded part of the bendix that rides on the starter shaft and the actual gear part had become seperated.Never have seen this before.Has anyone else? I swear, there's gremlins in my garage.Tractor started just fine last time I used it like 3 weeks ago.Got a new bendix on order.Should be here next Wednesday. Her's a pic of what I'm talking about.

midpack 925 #3 Posted October 11, 2020 What's the trick to getting a Bendix off? I was going to try and refurbish an old starter and felt I would damage the thing trying to get the nut off the end
